Compliance Officer II - Risk Assessment (Remote)

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

This position is responsible for executing the Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) and Sanctions Risk Assessment. This role will collaborate closely with Corporate Compliance, Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), data governance teams, and business stakeholders. The Compliance Officer will play a key role in assessing financial crime risks while maintaining a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The role requires close collaboration with data teams to obtain relevant transactional and control data and ensure its accuracy and completeness.

Responsibilities include analyzing large data sets, validating assessment inputs, and assessing Inherent Risk, Control Effectiveness, and Residual Risk. The Compliance Officer will also identify opportunities to improve the quality, efficiency, and consistency of the risk assessment process.

The individual needs to have strong BSA/AML and Sanctions Risk Management background in financial services or related industry and be able to:

• AML/CFT Expertise - Maintain expertise on AML/CFT laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Risk Management - Understand Risk Management Frameworks including assessing inherent risk, control effectiveness, and residual risk.
• Risk Assessment- Execute the enterprise BSA/AML and Sanctions Risk assessment by applying the approved methodology, validating assessment date, assessing Inherent Risk and Control Effectiveness, documenting conclusions and developing management reporting.
• Continuous Improvement – Perform continuous assessment and improvement of the BSA/AML and Sanctions risk assessment process.
• Project/Process Execution – Assist with special projects or related business processes, as needed
• Procedure Management - Develop and revise policies, standards, procedures and training materials. Serve as a SME of the process and procedures.
• Data Analysis – Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to support risk assessment results, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights.
• Data Validation – Validate and reconcile data from multiple systems to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and consistency of risk assessment inputs. Research and resolve data quality issues with business partners.
• Problem Solving - Track, investigate, and resolve complex or escalated issues
• Reporting – Prepare executive and committee level reports and presentations that clearly communicate risk assessment methodology, results, trends and key observations.
• Relationship Management – Partner with Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Intelligence Unit, Data Governance, technology and business stakeholders to validate, resolve issues, and support development and execution of the BSA/AML and Sanction Risk Assessment.

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Compliance, Legal, Audit, Banking OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Compliance, Legal, Audit, Banking

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of regulatory landscape at the federal and state level.
• Ability to research and interpret laws, regulations, and guidance documents from government sources and issuing agencies.
• Ability to write/create compliance memos, reports, applicability analysis documentation, and other documentation.
• Strong analytical, research, organizational, project management skills, with demonstrated ability to validate, reconcile, and analyze large datasets using advanced proficiency in spreadsheets.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver under deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear legal/regulatory memos, applicability analyses, and stakeholder communications.
• Critical thinking, process centric thinking and Process Improvement skills
• Law degree, compliance certifications (CRCM, ACAMS), or equivalent a plus.
• Experience using Copilot or similar AI capabilities, a plus

The base pay for this position is generally between $94,000 and $155,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
