Build your career and Australia’s future.

Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.

A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Community Engagement Specialist reporting to the Head of nbn Local.

A bit about your role

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will play an important role in helping regional communities realise the benefits of digital connectivity and build confidence in the opportunities enabled by the nbn network. Working as part of the nbn Local team, you will develop trusted relationships with community groups, councils, local organisations and other key stakeholders to deliver initiatives that strengthen digital participation, improve digital capability and support community resilience.

You will bring national programs, campaigns and partnerships to life at a local level, tailoring engagement activities to meet the unique needs of your region. Through community events, presentations and stakeholder engagement, you will act as a trusted advisor and advocate, helping communities better understand technology, access available opportunities and prepare for future challenges. You will also provide valuable local insights that inform regional strategies, influence business decisions and shape programs that deliver meaningful outcomes for customers and communities.

Working closely with colleagues across nbn, you will champion the voice of regional Australia, foster strong partnerships and help build confidence that nbn is listening and responding to the needs of local communities. Through a collaborative and customer-focused approach, you will contribute to stronger community connections, greater digital inclusion and improved experiences across the nbn network.

A bit about you

An ideal candidate is a passionate community engagement professional who enjoys building meaningful relationships and creating positive outcomes for diverse communities. You have experience delivering stakeholder engagement programs, ideally within regional, rural or remote environments, and are confident engaging with a broad range of audiences through presentations, events and community initiatives.

You are a skilled communicator who can simplify complex information, influence stakeholders and build trust with community groups, councils, industry partners and colleagues. Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, you bring strong planning and organisational skills, a proactive mindset and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Most importantly, you are motivated by making a genuine difference for communities. You bring curiosity, empathy and a strong customer focus, along with the ability to translate local insights into practical actions that support digital capability, strengthen community connections and help regional Australia thrive.

You may find that your experience does not match every requirement listed but, if this role has piqued your interest or resonates with where you are in your career, we encourage you to apply rather than self-select out.
