Trueline's client, a well-established boutique law firm specializing in commercial real estate and landlord representation, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their team remotely in Southern California.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned litigator who enjoys both litigation and transactional work and wants to practice at a high level without the bureaucracy of a large firm. You'll work directly with sophisticated commercial landlords, developers, and property owners while handling meaningful matters from strategy through resolution.
What You'll Do as the Associate Attorney:
- Represent commercial landlords in complex lease disputes, unlawful detainer actions, and breach of lease matters
- Draft and negotiate commercial leases, amendments, assignments, guaranties, and related agreements
- Manage litigation from initial strategy through trial, including pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, hearings, and settlement negotiations
- Advise clients on lease interpretation, risk management, default remedies, and property-related legal issues
- Appear in California state courts throughout the litigation process
- Build trusted relationships with sophisticated commercial real estate clients
- Collaborate directly with firm leadership on legal strategy and complex matters
Must-Haves as the Associate Attorney:
- Active member of the California Bar
- Approximately 15+ years of litigation experience
- Significant experience handling commercial landlord-tenant matters
- Strong understanding of commercial lease drafting, review, and interpretation
- Experience independently managing hearings, motions, and trials
- Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a close-knit team
- Outstanding communication and client relationship skills
Nice-to-Haves as the Associate Attorney:
- Experience representing shopping center owners, developers, REITs, or commercial property management companies
- Strong transactional commercial real estate background
- Experience with mediation and alternative dispute resolution
- Existing relationships within the Southern California commercial real estate community
This Role Offers:
- Base salary of $200,000-$240,000
