Coder Physician

Scope:

Pro fee coder with 5 + years’ experience across multiple specialties in clinic and hospital setting. Must be able to work denials and edits. Specifically looking for someone with experience in 3 main areas:

1.  ENT experience to include clinic and hospital EM services as well as office and hospital procedures. 
2. OB/GYN to include clinic and hospital visits for pre- and post-partum care as well as delivers and general OB/GYN services outside of pregnancies. 
3. Maternal Fetal Monitoring (MFM) billing

In addition to the required experience above, ideal candidates will have experience with clinic and hospital visits in at least two of the following specialties:

1. Wound Care
2. Behavioral Health
3. Gastrointestinal 
4. Infectious Disease
5. General Surgery
6. Trauma Surgery
7. Colorectal Surgery
8. Neurology
9. Neurosurgery
10. Neuro Intervention
11. Primary Care/Family Medicine

Must be comfortable moving across specialties regularly. Experience with Cerner and Optum Encoder Pro is preferred but will train for the right candidate.  Experience with Cerner’s RevCycle billing module a plus. Schedule is required to be 8 hours M-F. Start time can be flexible but most of the shift will need to be worked between 8a – 5p CST.  Ability to occasionally flex schedule with prior approval. 

Job Summary: Professional Fee Multi-Specialty Medical Coder

Position Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift
Work Hours: Flexible start time; majority of work hours must fall between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM CST. Occasional schedule flexibility may be available with prior approval.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Professional Fee (Pro Fee) Medical Coder with a minimum of 5 years of multi-specialty coding experience in both clinic and hospital settings. The ideal candidate will possess strong coding expertise across several medical specialties and demonstrate the ability to transition seamlessly between specialties based on business needs.

This position requires advanced knowledge of professional fee coding, evaluation and management (E/M) services, surgical procedures, and specialty-specific coding guidelines. Candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment that requires regular movement across multiple service lines.

Required Experience

Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

• Coding for clinic and hospital-based E/M services
• Office-based ENT procedures
• Hospital-based ENT procedures and surgical services

Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)

• Prenatal and postpartum care coding
• Hospital and clinic OB/GYN visits
• Labor and delivery services
• Routine gynecological services and procedures
• General OB/GYN services unrelated to pregnancy

Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM)

• Maternal Fetal Medicine professional fee coding and billing
• High-risk pregnancy services
• Maternal and fetal monitoring services
• Understanding of MFM documentation and reimbursement requirements

Preferred Additional Specialty Experience

Essential Responsibilities

• Accurately assign CPT®, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes for professional fee services.
• Review provider documentation to ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and appropriate reimbursement.
• Code clinic visits, hospital visits, surgical procedures, and specialty services across multiple service lines.
• Apply payer-specific and regulatory coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and revenue cycle teams to resolve coding-related questions.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards while managing multiple specialty work queues.
• Participate in coding education, audits, and process improvement initiatives.
• Adapt to changing workflows and specialty assignments as operational needs evolve.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 5 years of professional fee coding experience in multiple specialties.
• Extensive experience coding for: 
  • ENT
  • OB/GYN
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM)
• Strong understanding of: 
  • CPT®
  • HCPCS Level II
  • ICD-10-CM
  • E/M coding guidelines
  • Professional fee reimbursement methodologies
• Experience coding both clinic and hospital-based services.
• Ability to work independently and accurately in a remote environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to move between specialties and assignments based on business needs.

Preferred

• Experience with Cerner EMR.
• Experience with Optum Encoder Pro.
• Experience with Cerner RevCycle billing module.
• Experience supporting large multi-specialty physician groups or health systems.
