Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Azure Preferred | Open to AWS, GCP & Other Public Cloud Experience)

As a Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer (Azure) at Ellucian, you will help support and maintain the cloud infrastructure that powers our SaaS solutions for higher education. As Ellucian continues its transformation into an AI-First organization, you'll contribute to building secure, scalable, and reliable cloud environments that support both our core applications and AI-enabled capabilities.

In this role, you'll work closely with cloud engineers, software developers, operations, and security teams to deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve Azure-based infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges while continuing to expand their cloud expertise.

Where you will make an impact

Cloud Infrastructure

• Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Assist with implementing infrastructure changes that improve system reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Help maintain cloud resources across development, testing, and production environments.

Cloud Operations

• Monitor cloud environments to ensure systems remain healthy, available, and performing as expected.
• Respond to infrastructure alerts and troubleshoot routine cloud issues.
• Work with senior engineers to resolve more complex technical problems.

Deployments & Automation

• Support application and infrastructure deployments using established deployment processes.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
• Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.

Security & Reliability

• Apply cloud security best practices when provisioning and maintaining infrastructure.
• Assist with patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance-related activities.
• Help ensure cloud environments meet reliability and availability objectives.

Documentation

• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration guides.
• Document infrastructure updates, troubleshooting steps, and support processes.

Collaboration

• Partner with engineering, operations, security, and data teams to support cloud-hosted applications.
• Participate in team planning, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance the cloud platform and engineering practices.

What you will bring

• 2–4 years of experience supporting cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure (preferred) or another major public cloud platform such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), or VMware Cloud.
• Experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure and services.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure is preferred. Candidates with experience supporting AWS, GCP, OCI, or other enterprise cloud platforms who are eager to expand their Azure expertise are encouraged to apply.
• Experience troubleshooting infrastructure or application issues in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with scripting using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or a similar scripting language.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or CloudFormation.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, TLS/SSL, load balancing, firewalls, and identity management.
• Experience using monitoring and logging tools to identify and troubleshoot system issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus to have (NOT required)

• Experience supporting SaaS applications.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar
• Azure certifications (AZ-104 or similar) are a plus.
