About the Role
Capture & Harvesting is part of the Core division that fuels every Samba product, generating the over-the-top (OTT), linear TV, and ad viewership data that downstream teams use to build audience products, data licensing, and measurement reports. You lead the team responsible for our core ingestion systems, working across large-scale distributed architectures that process audio and video signals from hundreds of global channels and streaming platforms.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the Team: Manage a team of remote engineers, providing hands-on technical guidance, reviewing system designs, answering technical questions, and planning for future team growth.
- Mentor and Unblock: Mentor engineers directly, unblock design decisions, and resolve technical disagreements before they become team friction.
- Represent the Team: Represent Capture & Harvesting in cross-team collaboration, Product decisions, and roadmap definitions.
- Stay Hands-On: Split your time roughly 60% hands-on and 40% management, reviewing system designs and team pull requests while holding a high quality bar.
- Set Team Rhythm: Establish clear goals, team rituals, and execution cadences to ensure alignment, accountability, and high-quality delivery.
- Own Core Ingestion: Own the core ingestion systems that process audio and video signals from hundreds of global channels and streaming platforms.
What You Bring
- Hands-on engineering management experience leading a team of roughly 3 to 10 engineers, not just senior individual contributor work.
- Experience designing, optimizing, and maintaining scalable, resilient distributed systems while keeping high SLA standards.
- The technical depth to review a system design, catch what’s wrong with it, and make the call yourself when someone is stuck, rather than escalating.
- Comfortable mentoring engineers directly and handling technical conflict before it becomes a people problem, and energized by evolving mature, production-proven systems rather than greenfield builds.
- Bonus: audio and video processing, adtech data, high-volume streaming, content-fingerprinting systems, applied AI and ML in production, and Python or React.
