POSITION SUMMARY

The Campus Engagement Intern supports the work of the Population and Sustainability program. The program tackles the upstream causes of the wildlife extinction crisis by addressing our current endless growth economic model. We fight for solutions that advance justice, equity, health, and a compassionate world where both people and wildlife can thrive.

The Campus Engagement Intern will work to implement campaigns addressing the upstream drivers of the wildlife extinction crisis on their campus, including creating partnerships between the campus health clinic and the sustainability office, incorporating health and equity issues into the campus climate plan, increasing awareness of and access to reproductive healthcare as a necessary part of preparing for climate disasters, and working to address plastic consumption and waste on campus.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job duties in order of priority based on available time:

• Participate in the first Campus Library of Things Cohort pilot with our partners, PLAN and Shareable. Cohort members will work on their respective campuses to create and promote libraries of things building out a yearlong curriculum for future cohorts.
• Research how to update and advocate for changes within campus climate, sustainability, waste and/or preparedness plans to include topics we work on.
• Host a Sexual Health Emergency Preparedness (SHEP) kit distribution on campus using Endangered Species Condoms and associated toolkits while assisting with the creation and promotion of our virtual SHEP training.
• Assist with our work to develop a Simplify the Holidays program to reduce plastic consumption and waste during the holidays dedicated to a college audience.
• Potentially participate in the American College Health Association (ACHA) as a student representative for their campus.
• Conduct research on food code and reuse on campus.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal working schedule is Monday-Friday, schedule will be determined with your supervisor.
