About Ground
Ground is a strategic storytelling studio. We develop, test, and deploy research-backed public affairs, advocacy, and brand campaigns that shift mindsets and move people to act.
Our narrative intelligence platform, StoryHeat, draws on original audience research, behavioral science, and two decades of documentary field reporting to find out which narratives actually move people before a campaign is even built.
We work with mission-driven organizations, advocacy groups, and purpose-driven brands on the hardest issues of the moment. Storytelling isn't the output here. It's the engine.
About Here We Are
Here We Are (HWA) is a national, research-backed storytelling campaign designed to shift public opinion and build durable support for transgender equality. Operating under Ground, HWA works with state and national movement partners to conduct rigorous narrative research and translate it into compelling storytelling campaigns that change hearts and minds.
Note: In the past we have gotten a high volume of applications. We have found well-written cover letters to be a key factor in determining who to interview.
The Role
Ground is hiring a Campaign Manager to hold everything moving through Here We Are.
At any given moment, HWA is running original research studies, supporting partner cohorts, and deploying campaigns across a national partner network. You'll touch all of it: creator campaigns, multi-state deployments, rapid-response launches, and one of the largest narrative research programs on transgender equality in the world.
You won't execute every task yourself, and will have the support of Ground's project coordination, production, creative, research, and paid media teams. You'll be the person who always knows the status of everything, catches what's stalled, and activates the right people to keep things moving.
This is an operational role that required strategic insight, decision making and real ownership. You'll report to the Director of Here We Are, make decisions within approved campaign plans, and serve as the day-to-day contact partners rely on.
Who We're Looking For
This is not a project management role, and it is not a campaign strategy role. It requires both at once.
We need an operator who thinks like a strategist. Someone who can hold a partner organization's goals in their head and translate them into the systems, sequencing, and decisions that make those goals achievable. The work moves between the strategic and the operational constantly, sometimes within the same hour, and the right person doesn't experience that as a conflict.
You should want to understand every stage of the campaign activation pipeline: how the stories and messages get developed, how they get tested, how they get produced and deployed, and how we measure whether they moved anyone once they are live. Direct experience across all of it is not required. Genuine curiosity about all of it is.
The people who thrive here are the ones who care as much about whether the work had an impact as if it got done well.
What You'll Do
- Identify blockers, risks, and slippage early, and activate the right agency resources (project coordination, research, production, creative, paid media) to resolve them, holding those teams to campaign deadlines.
- Drive active campaigns from green light through deployment and reporting, directing the Ground team staffed to each activation.
- Manage creator campaigns across HWA's growing network of movement and non-movement creators.
- Oversee deployment across HWA's hub-and-spokes partner network — assets built once, rebranded and launched by partners across states..
- Make independent calls within approved campaign plans — deployment timing and sequencing, creator selection, asset revisions, channel adjustments — and bring all public-facing outputs to the Director for sign off.
- Serve as the day-to-day contact for movement partners and cohort members on execution matters, and explain HWA's campaign strategy — content rationale, paid media approach, channel mix, research results — using the campaign's approved materials.
- Own ongoing cohort communications, including regular updates, deliverable coordination, and responsiveness to cohort member needs.
- Track research studies at the milestone level (design, fielding, analysis, delivery), flag delays, and coordinate the handoff of findings into campaign development and partner-facing materials.
- Track campaign performance against benchmarks and adjust deployment within the approved plan; prepare campaign briefs, flight plans, and post-campaign performance summaries.
- Surface partner needs, friction, and opportunities to the Director, including status preparation for the weekly leadership sync.
- Own the accuracy of HWA's tracking systems and compile the portfolio activity and metrics sections of monthly and quarterly reports for the Director's completion.
Who You Are
- 3–5 years of experience in campaign management, program management, advocacy communications, or integrated marketing, including responsibility for multiple concurrent work streams or a portfolio of projects.
- A systems thinker who finds satisfaction in the infrastructure that lets a mission-driven campaign run smoothly — you take pride in making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Able to drive work through cross-functional teams you don't directly manage, mobilizing creative, research, production, or media resources against deadlines.
- Fluent in paid media, creator/influencer campaigns, and digital content deployment — able to explain strategy and results credibly to external stakeholders, not just execute against them.
- Experience working on transgender equality or LGBTQ+ campaigns, or with state-based LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, national organizations, or movement coalitions.
- Experienced presenting strategy, plans, or results to clients, partners, or senior stakeholders.
- An independent decision-maker who knows the difference between a call you should make yourself and one you should escalate.
- Comfortable working independently and proactively in a remote, fast-moving environment.
- Committed to the mission of Here We Are.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Agency account or engagement leadership experience, or campaign leadership within an advocacy organization.
- Experience coordinating or managing research projects, message testing, or persuasion measurement workstreams.
- Experience managing cohort, coalition, or multi-stakeholder programs.
- Experience with creator campaign platforms and social/digital analytics tools.
