Position overview
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is a critical growth driver within the MFSC Ecosystem. You will be responsible for generating new client relationships, securing workforce service contracts, and building strategic partnerships that expand MFSC's reach across the region.
This is more than a sales role. As a BDR, you are an ecosystem builder — connecting businesses to workforce solutions, introducing community partners to MFSC's network, and identifying opportunities that create value for every participant in the ecosystem.
Growth opportunity: High-performing BDRs can advance into leadership roles — recruiting, mentoring, and building their own teams of Business Development Representatives while earning override compensation based on team production, in accordance with MFSC compensation policies.
What you will do
• Identify, prospect, and develop relationships with businesses and organizations that need workforce solutions
• Generate leads through networking, community engagement, referral partnerships, and direct outreach
• Present MFSC's ecosystem of services — talent acquisition, workforce consulting, and workforce development — to prospective clients
• Secure service agreements and staffing contracts that bring new business into the MFSC Ecosystem
• Collaborate with Talent Acquisition Specialists to ensure seamless handoff and client fulfillment
• Represent MFSC at community events, business associations, chambers of commerce, and networking functions
• Build and nurture long-term client relationships that generate repeat business and referrals
• Provide market intelligence and client feedback to MFSC leadership to support ecosystem growth
• As you grow: recruit, train, and mentor new Business Development Representatives on your team
What you will earn
• Commission on every workforce contract you secure
• Referral bonus opportunities through the MFSC Referral Partner network
• Leadership override compensation as you build and support a team of BDRs
• Unlimited earning potential tied directly to your production and team growth
Preferred qualifications
• Experience in sales, business development, staffing, recruiting, or account management
• Existing relationships with local businesses, HR professionals, or economic development organizations
• Experience mentoring or leading others in a professional setting
• Familiarity with workforce development, staffing, or human resources
Leadership development pathway
MFSC is designed to grow with you. As a Business Development Representative, you have a clear path to leadership:
• Begin as an individual contributor — build your client base and secure contracts
• Recruit and onboard new Business Development Representatives into the ecosystem
• Train, mentor, and support your team's development and production
• Earn override compensation based on your team's results
• Build a scalable business development operation that expands MFSC's regional impact
Requirements
You do not need to come from a staffing background. You do need to be a relationship-builder with a drive to grow.
• Proven ability to build relationships and generate new business opportunities
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Familiarity with the local business community, industries, and workforce landscape
• Comfortable with commission-based compensation structures
• Reliable internet access and proficiency with basic digital communication tools
• A genuine interest in workforce development and community economic growth
Important information for contractors
• You are responsible for your own taxes, including self-employment tax
• You are not entitled to employee benefits such as health insurance, paid leave, or unemployment coverage through MFSC
• You maintain the right to accept or decline assignments based on your availability and preferences
• MFSC does not guarantee a minimum number of assignments or hours
We recommend consulting a tax professional or financial advisor if you have questions about independent contractor status and your obligations.
Why join the MFSC Ecosystem
