The Business Data Analyst manages the mapping, validation, and migration of client data during core banking system conversions. They act as a liaison between stakeholders to gather requirements, troubleshoot conversion issues, and ensure seamless project implementation.
About the Role
The Business Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing, mapping, validating, and supporting the migration of client data during core banking system conversions. This role serves as a critical liaison between clients, project teams, and technical resources to ensure accurate data conversion, effective communication, and a seamless implementation experience.
The successful candidate will lead data discovery sessions and workshops, gather and document business requirements, analyze source data, troubleshoot conversion issues, and provide ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You'll Do
Analyze client data and business processes to support core banking system conversions.
Conduct client workshops and discovery sessions to gather requirements and understand current business practices.
Document business requirements, decisions, conversion rules, and project deliverables.
Perform data mapping from legacy banking systems to the target core banking platform.
Validate and reconcile converted data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Investigate and resolve data-related issues, exceptions, and conversion discrepancies.
Collaborate with project managers, consultants, developers, and client stakeholders throughout the implementation process.
Participate in testing activities, including system testing, conversion testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Track, manage, and resolve project tickets and support requests within established timelines.
Communicate project status, risks, and issues to internal teams and clients.
Provide recommendations for process improvements and conversion best practices.
Support client training, go-live activities, and post-conversion warranty support.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities within the organization.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Required
Experience in business analysis, data analysis, data conversion, or banking operations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
Experience with front end knowledge of Fiserv DNA.
Thorough understanding of deposit products in Canada an/or The United States (RSP accounts, IRAs, TFSA, CDs/GICs, Money Market products as some examples).
Proficiency working with data sets, spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools.
Experience performing data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and client discussions.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Intermediate experience in SQL and data querying tools.
Preferred
Experience with core banking systems, banking operations, or financial institutions.
Experience supporting banking system implementations, mergers, or conversions.
Familiarity with ticketing and project management platforms.
Experience converting clients to or from Fiserv DNA.
Previous consulting experience working directly with clients.
