The Brand and Communications Supervisor oversees brand positioning and awareness through strategic communications, media relations, and internal messaging. This role also provides leadership to a team of creative and communications professionals while ensuring brand standards are maintained across all channels.
Position Details: Permanent Full-time, New Position
Salary: $82,500 - $104,500, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual's education and/or experience as it relates to the position.

What You Will Do
Reporting to the Director of Brand & Communications, the Brand and Communications Supervisor oversees brand positioning and awareness through strategic communications materials and media relations. This role collaborates across the organization to strengthen reputation and promote key messages, achievements, and impact to internal and external audiences in effort to protect the organization’s brand and identity.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the development, drafting and/or editing of internal communications as required in accordance with the strategy.
- Working with internal business units and external agencies to prepare press releases and oversee distribution and media outreach.
- Circulating content for the necessary approvals, coordinating translations as required, gathering digital assets, and validating that links and other referenced items are available and functioning properly.
- Responding to media inquiries and drafting media responses for approval.
- Facilitating press interviews and preparing designated spokespeople with media talking points and coaching as required.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with our public relations agency, media outlets and internal knowledge sources in key areas around the organization.
- Supporting the preparation and editing of key organizational publications and reports.
- Monitoring media coverage and relevant trending topics and proactively suggesting opportunities to further brand reach and awareness.
- Providing leadership, guidance and support to a team consisting of graphic design, translation services, and social media.
- Remaining informed on organizational objectives, policies, programs, and positioning points and ensuring that communications and brand collateral are optimized to reflect these.
- Acting as a brand steward, facilitating internal training and escalating any potential reputational concerns for the brand and supporting crisis communication efforts as required.
- Ensuring that all materials that are prepared by the communications team align with brand standards and key corporate messaging.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a public relations and communications role.
- Demonstrated experience supervising communications or marketing professionals is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Assets and Knowledge
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingualism (French) is considered an asset as this role will interact with internal external people across the country.
- Ability to think both creatively and strategically.
- A demonstrated multitasker who is deadline-oriented with strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the conservation, environmental, or charitable sector and the role of mission-driven storytelling in building stakeholder engagement and support is considered an asset
- Knowledge of brand governance and the application of brand standards across communication channels.
- Knowledge of communication planning, project management, and campaign evaluation methodologies.
- Knowledge of Canadian media landscapes, communication trends, and emerging best practices.
- Knowledge of issues management and crisis communication principles.
- Knowledge of accessibility, privacy, and copyright considerations related to communications materials.
