Bidding & Estimating

About the Role:

The Bidding & Estimating specialist supports revenue growth by developing accurate, competitive estimates for commercial and residential irrigation projects. This role creates designs from verbal and written specifications, performs detailed take-offs, analyzes material and labor requirements, and evaluates project feasibility based on cost, timelines, and technical factors. Working closely with sales representatives, vendors, and customers, this position coordinates the bid process, prepares itemized proposals, and exercises sound judgment in interpreting design intent—while consistently delivering exceptional customer service and demonstrating the Company’s core values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure a high level of customer service is always provided
• Generate revenue by promoting services and products through a competitive bid process
• Perform difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and knowledge relating to products needed in estimating projects
• Create designs from verbal or written instructions in consultation with sales representatives, vendors, and customers
•  Provide take-offs and quotes for commercial and residential irrigation jobs; revise estimates as requested
• Interpret designs, as needed to complete details
• Review data to determine material and labor requirements and develop itemized lists
• Determine feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical and economic factors
•  Provide preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed itemized estimates based on final plans and specifications; revise estimates as requested
• Estimate, upon computing cost factors, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors
• Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
• Coordinate bid process/bid result with sales team, as needed
• Exercise judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on a knowledge of the design intent
• Perform other various duties, as outlined by supervisor

Qualifications and Physical Requirements:

• 2+ years’ experience in related field
• Ability to use computer-assisted design software and equipment
• Ability to solve problems through independent research and analysis
• Extended periods of sitting, viewing computer screen and use of keyboard and telephone
• Human relations skills; oral and written communication skills
• Willingness to participate in pre-employment and random drug screenings
• This is a telework position. Reliable internet and phone service are required. The company will provide the necessary computer equipment to complete the role’s responsibilities. Remote office furnishings such as a desk, chair, etc., are the responsibility of the employee
