Earlston Academy is looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineering & AI Instructor to join our instructor network and lead career-focused, cohort-based training.

This role is ideal for an experienced backend engineer who is actively working with modern software development and AI technologies and wants to help students develop practical, job-ready skills.

What You'll Do

Create and maintain backend software engineering and AI course content.
Lead engaging live online sessions for assigned cohorts.
Teach practical backend development and AI engineering concepts.
Develop hands-on projects, coding exercises, assessments, and demonstrations.
Teach students how to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain backend systems.
Incorporate AI tools and technologies into modern software development workflows.
Mentor students and provide constructive technical feedback.
Keep course content current with evolving software engineering and AI technologies.

Application

Applicants must submit a short video assessment demonstrating their ability to teach a backend software engineering or AI concept.

Requirements

Currently working as a backend software engineer, AI engineer, or closely related role.

7+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Current, relevant technical certifications where applicable.

Strong professional experience with backend systems and modern software development.

Experience working with AI/ML technologies, LLMs, AI APIs, or AI-powered applications.

Strong understanding of APIs, databases, cloud platforms, authentication, testing, and deployment.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.

Teaching, mentoring, or technical training experience is preferred.

Reliable computer, webcam, microphone, and internet connection.

Compensation

Cohort-Based Contract Compensation

Course Content Development: $1,000–$3,000 per course, based on course scope and complexity.
Live Instruction: $45–$100 per instructional hour.
Student Support & Grading: Additional compensation based on cohort requirements.
Repeat Cohorts: Additional compensation for each subsequent cohort taught.
Compensation is based on experience, course complexity, content requirements, and cohort size.
