Job Description:

Job Functions, Essential Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Architect solutions in Azure - Azure Networking, Azure Functions, AppService, Data Factory, Azure File Share, Custom Role Based Access Control, Virtual Machine Hardening, IoT, Storage, Azure Databases, Sentinel, Backup Recovery modules, Azure AD, containers, Security, analytics, etc. 
  • Support the migration of customer workloads to the public cloud; Build out target public cloud architectures for existing on-premises customer workloads that will be moved. 
  • Support analysis of applications targeted at migration to the public cloud. 
  • Create architecture diagrams of target public architecture based on best practices and with customer requirements in mind; walkthrough diagrams with the customer and gain buy-in. 
  • Perform migration from on-premises environments into Azure using 6R techniques such as Rehosting, Re-platforming, Refactoring, etc., depending on the customer’s needs. 
  • Build and maintain security, network, and systems management applications within an AWS and/or Azure environment. 
  • Implement availability, scalability, and performance plans for AWS managed service environments. 
  • Implement processes and quality improvements through task automation: Implement Infrastructure-as-code (IaC), automate security controls and alerts, as well as routine maintenance tasks. 
  • Work closely with a team of architects, engineers, and developers to create functional design specifications. 
  • Lead and develop best practices for a larger Cloud Engineering team. 
  • Closely coordinate with the DevOps team on additional cloud automation above the infrastructure layer 
  • Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques, including bulk application transfers into the cloud 
  • Responsible for design, development, and architecture of Cloud solutions. 
  • Work closely with developers and engineers to recommend and design database or data storage solutions that effectively reflect our business needs, security, and service level requirements. 
  • Manage the migration of existing databases from on-premises to the cloud using various tools provided. 
  • Review coding done to advance application upgrade, extension, or other development. 
  • Analyze the application for data integrity issues. 
  • Mentor less experienced technical staff; may use high-end development tools to assist or facilitate the development process. 
  • Development of automated solutions to monitor and support our software development and release processes. 


    Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements:

    Experience in the following technologies: 

    • Certification in Azure and AWS Architecture. 
    • Enterprise Architecture TOGAF and a Postgraduate qualification in Technology. 
    • Azure Architecture & Hybrid Cloud: Design and implementation of Azure solutions integrated with onprem environments. 
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with Terraform, Bicep and/or ARM templates. 
    • DevOps & CI/CD: Automation of infrastructure and deployments; collaboration with DevOps teams. 
    • Cloud Security & Governance: Azure Policy, RBAC, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, enterprise security controls. 
    • Containers & AKS: Experience with containerized workloads and Azure Kubernetes Service. 
    • Workload Migration: Application of 6R strategies for onprem to cloud migrations.
