What you'll do...The Associate Manager – Innovations is responsible for leading a blended team of full-time analysts and seasonal supervisors supporting H&R Block strategic initiatives. This role drives execution, team performance, and continuous improvement across innovation initiatives while partnering cross-functionally to advance strategic priorities. The Associate Manager serves as a thought partner to the Manager, Innovations—bringing a strategic mindset, strong operational leadership, and a bias for action. This role balances people leadership, program execution, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality outcomes and consistent client experience.
Day to day, you'll...
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts and seasonal supervisors to deliver against program objectives
- Set clear expectations, monitor performance, and provide ongoing feedback and development planning
- Partner with Lead Supervisors to ensure effective oversight of seasonal associates, including coaching, quality management, and performance support
- Reinforce a culture of accountability, client focus, and continuous improvement
- Oversee day-to-day operations supporting strategic initiatives and related innovation efforts
- Ensure work is executed with quality, accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established procedures
- Monitor workload, capacity, and productivity trends; proactively address risks and gaps
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training strategies for seasonal and full-time team members
- Drive consistency in processes, documentation, and reporting across the team
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to test-and-learn initiatives and scaling efforts
- Act as a key connector between strategy and execution—translating priorities into actionable plans
- Provide insights and feedback from frontline operations to influence program design and improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, client experience, and team effectiveness
- Use data and performance insights to inform decisions and recommend enhancements
- Serve as a thought partner to the Manager, Innovations on priorities, challenges, and solutions
- Lead or support initiatives that drive operational efficiency and innovation outcomes
- Ensure adherence to tax, compliance, and operational standards
- Oversee quality reviews, audits, and escalation management
- Maintain strong documentation and reporting practices to support transparency and accountability
What you'll bring to the team...- Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
- 3+ years of experience in operations, tax, or program delivery environments
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, including coaching and performance management
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on outcomes
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
It would be even better if you also had...- Experience in innovation, pilot programs, or test-and-learn environments
- Background in tax operations, quality review, or related H&R Block programs
- Experience managing both full-time and seasonal or matrixed teams
- Familiarity with performance metrics, reporting, and workforce planning

Pay Range InformationThe pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.
Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
Pay Range$73,400.00 - $110,100.00/Yr.
