The I4.0 & Ops Excellence Industrial Engineer will strengthen consistency, innovation, and maturity across RTX’s technical, digital, and operational excellence initiatives. This role will apply industrial engineering principles while partnering closely with internal Centers of Excellence, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Digital Technology to advance factory automation, digital thread integration, and connected factory capabilities. The Industrial Engineering Lead will coach and support Connected Factory focus sites in driving measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and manufacturability across RTX’s connected factory network.

What You Will Do

  • Apply industrial engineering methodologies to optimize manufacturing processes, workflows, and factory performance across RTX Connected Factory focus sites.

  • Drive factory automation initiatives, including evaluation of automation opportunities, technology readiness, and deployment coordination with site teams.

  • Act as a strategic partner for producibility initiatives, ensuring manufacturability considerations are integrated into design, development, and scaling activities.

  • Collaborate across functional and site teams to harmonize processes, share best practices, accelerate digital maturity, and drive continuous improvement in technical excellence.

  • Serve as a coach and technical resource for sites adopting Connected Factory capabilities, supporting teams in advancing digital and operational excellence practices.

  • Lead continuous improvement events leveraging the CORE Operating System and data‑driven analysis to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and manufacturability.

  • Lead development, tracking, and reporting of Connected Factory metrics, including KPI automation, Control Tower insights, and digital performance dashboards.

  • Ensure consistent standards, processes, and deployment approaches across the enterprise through alignment between councils, business unit strategies, and site‑level execution.

  • This position will require travel to various manufacturing sites (30%).

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in manufacturing, digital technologies, automation, or technical program leadership.

  • Experience leading large-scale projects and managing cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with Industry 4.0 concepts, factory automation, or digital thread technologies.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute methodically.

  • Ability to interpret complex technical data and translate it into actionable insights.

  • Ability to lead strategic engagements with cross functional and/ or business unit teams.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing analytics, automation systems, or shop‑floor data architectures.

  • Experience with QMS frameworks, enterprise governance councils and process harmonization activities.

  • Technical understanding of manufacturing systems architecture (i.e. MES, IIOT).

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
