Job Summary:

The Associate Creative Director oversees the creative production of mPulse’s digital, print, and streaming content and leads the team of designers. This role will lead the design of assets that will reach millions of health plan members through engaging health communication programs. They will work closely with the Content team to plan the strategy and creative direction for our content across multiple channels (email, print, mobile web, MMS, streaming health, etc.) and see it through to production. This is a leader/doer role, which includes managing the team and contributing as a designer. Their keen eye for design and high-level strategy ensures a cohesive experience for health plan members across all media.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage Health Engagement Creative Design
    • Lead strategic design and brand voice of engagement content, including streaming health assets, email, print, etc.
    • Plan and manage all creative projects, including resourcing estimates, timelines, reviews, and stakeholder participation
    • Collaborate closely with organizational leaders to define a health engagement creative design voice to align with the overall health engagement voice
  • Supervise the Health Engagement Creative team
    • Lead and mentor designers in creating beautiful, dynamic, and engaging media (videos, motion graphics, interactives, stories, emails, print, etc.)
    • Assign, supervise, and advise all design work completed by the team
    • Explore new and innovative formats and product capabilities to deliver health engagement content
    • Oversee, manage, and continually improve the creative pipeline and process
    • Mentor designers in all aspects of their career development
    • Step in with hands-on design work as needed
  • Collaborate and strategize on the multi-channel content library with Content team
    • Gather input from key stakeholders to inform content priorities and plan roadmap
    • Develop creative strategy for engagement programs, print campaigns, and short-form video/animated content
    • Manage the entire pipeline from discovery through production and implementation
    • Develop, manage, and iterate on scalable templates for applicable channels, ex. Print, email, etc.
  • Elevate how the mPulse brand voice, as needed
    • Continue to elevate the visual identity and brand positioning
    • Maintain cohesive brand voice across all channels
    • Collaborate with marketing team on special projects such as promotional videos, event and conference presence, and other materials
  • Work with executives and other leadership to set project deadlines and content goals
  • Serve as Creative subject matter expert in sales and account conversations
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Highly skilled in digital (email, interactive, video, MMS) and print design, with an ability to jump in as a contributor when necessary
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to inspire the creative team
  • Strong ability to write, communicate, and present ideas to stakeholders at all levels, internal and external
  • Passion for distilling complex health information into simplified, beautiful, creative assets
  • Curious, willing to learn, and will do the research to solve problems, creatively
  • Collaborative and open to feedback to always improve and enhance work
  • Analytical, creative, and innovative in solving difficult problems
  • Highly organized and self-driven in the work process
  • Data-driven decision maker
  • Familiarity with ADA and WCAG compliance a plus
  • Familiarity with health insurance and healthcare a plus

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, Video Production, Print Design, UX Design, or related discipline preferred
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory/management experience leading multidisciplinary design team
  • Experience coaching and mentoring team members in their career development
  • Demonstrated experience providing creative direction across all types of digital media including video, photography, motion graphics, interactive design, etc
  • Extensive knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other Adobe Creative Suite applications

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and sit for extended period of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs weight.
