We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented professional to join our Data & Analytics Unit as an Assistant Vice President - Data Governance Lead. In this role, you will play a crucial part in implementing and maintaining effective data governance practices, ensuring data integrity, and driving the bank's data management maturity. Your expertise will be instrumental in collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance our data catalog, embed data governance principles, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Lead and support key data governance initiatives, identifying and managing critical data elements and domains.
Create and maintain a comprehensive Business Glossary and Data Catalog, ensuring accurate and up-to-date metadata.
Assess and operationalize technical metadata harvesting, aligning with data management standards and policies.
Collaborate closely with technology leads, business analysts, data owners, and stewards to enhance the data catalog and maintain policy and standards libraries.
Embed data governance culture into business-enabled processes, ensuring data accountability and compliance.
Lead interactions with technology stakeholders and business data owners to define asset ownership, usage policies, and compliant metadata.
Develop and refine data governance program standards and processes related to metadata and reference data management.
Promote data accountability and ensure regulatory and geographic compliance, tracking governance effectiveness through reports.
Lead periodic data governance meetings at different levels and contribute to PowerPoint presentations on data management maturity.
Qualifications
Extensive experience in data-related projects or programs, with a strong focus on metadata management and data governance implementation.
Practical knowledge of implementing data management standards within a banking environment, such as DAMA.
In-depth understanding of data governance policies, standards, metrics, controls, and processes.
Familiarity with legal, compliance, and regulatory issues impacting data, including geographic data storage restrictions.
Experience in identifying data assets, defining data ownership, and establishing usage and access control policies.
Proficiency in data domain discovery, classification, taxonomy, and hierarchies to support data catalog architecture.
Ability to create or enhance business glossaries by collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders.
Hands-on experience with Informatica Data Governance tools, including EDC, Axon, and DEQ, for tool implementation projects.
Proven track record in running data governance committees and effectively communicating data governance value to stakeholders.
