Position Summary
CPESN's pharmacy provider participation in clinical integration, alongside its existing and future payer, purchaser, and partner clients within a nationwide network, creates a complex operational environment. The CPESN USA Director of Enterprise Operations and Strategic Implementations will serve as a senior enterprise operator and executive partner to the CPESN USA Executive Director, functioning in a Chief of Staff capacity to translate executive priorities into coordinated action across the organization. This role will organize, coordinate, and reinforce CPESN operations while advancing the most strategically important, cross-functional, and cross-matrixed organizational improvement efforts. The position will support executive decision-making, manage priority initiatives, ensure timely follow-through across leadership groups, and assume selected responsibilities from the Executive Director for business continuity and designated company leadership as directed. It supports the mission of CPESN USA of optimizing the opportunities for participating pharmacies to deliver best-in-class patient care with broader care teams to provide medication optimization activities and enhanced services for patients.
Essential Functions
- Serve as a strategic advisor and operating partner to the CPESN USA Executive Director, helping translate executive priorities into measurable enterprise workstreams.
- Lead operational efforts of strategic importance and work closely with division and group leads to ensure timely deliverables, clear ownership, and executive-level visibility.
- Coordinate enterprise priorities across cross-functional and cross-matrixed teams, ensuring alignment among operations, pharmacy provider partnerships, technology, network performance, compliance, and external partner activities.
- Assume selected responsibilities from the Executive Director, as directed, to support business continuity, leadership coverage, decision follow-through, and uninterrupted execution of company priorities.
- Provide designated company leadership in internal forums, partner-facing discussions, implementation efforts, or operational decision processes as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Lead organizational improvement efforts, identify operational efficiencies, and recommend changes that strengthen execution, decision-making, and accountability.
- Facilitate executive-level planning, priority setting, leadership meeting agendas, and follow-up processes to ensure decisions are documented, communicated, and advanced.
- Lead multiple cross-functional teams charged with strategic operations, implementation readiness, special projects, and enterprise change management.
- Lead status check meetings in a cross-matrix environment, maintaining visibility into milestones, dependencies, risks, resource needs, and executive escalations.
- Map, publish, and continuously improve organization-wide processes and procedures, with emphasis on scalability, consistency, and accountability.
- Lead strategically important cross-functional and cross-matrixed implementations of technology, process, affiliated network, and pharmacy participant deliverables.
Executive Leadership and Chief of Staff Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted extension of the Executive Director by preparing executive briefs, synthesizing organizational input, and ensuring leadership has the information needed for timely decisions.
- Manage and advance executive priorities by maintaining a clear view of commitments, deadlines, decision points, and follow-up obligations across leadership teams.
- Support business continuity by assuming specific Executive Director responsibilities during periods of transition, absence, competing executive demands, or other circumstances as directed.
- Serve in a designated leadership capacity for company initiatives, workgroups, operational matters, or stakeholder engagements when assigned by the Executive Director.
- Facilitate executive communication across internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring messages are clear, coordinated, and aligned with CPESN USA strategy.
- Identify risks, interdependencies, and organizational barriers that require executive attention, and recommend practical options for resolution.
- Support governance, leadership rhythms, and enterprise operating cadences, including leadership meetings, priority reviews, implementation updates, and strategic planning checkpoints.
- Represent the Executive Director in selected internal forums or partner-facing discussions when appropriate and as directed, ensuring continuity, alignment, and follow-through.
- Handle sensitive organizational matters with discretion, sound judgment, and an understanding of executive-level confidentiality.
Qualifications
- BS required; 10+ years of experience in program leadership, enterprise operations, or strategic implementation within a healthcare provider, pharmacy, payer, or related health services environment.
- Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders, preparing executive materials, managing decision follow-up, and driving accountability across matrixed teams.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with compliance-related responses, submissions, executive reporting, or partner-facing documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience assuming delegated leadership responsibilities, supporting business continuity, or representing senior executives in operational or stakeholder-facing contexts preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with community pharmacy business models, clinical service operations, enhanced services, process design, and pharmacy workflows preferred.
- Minimum 5 years track record of progressive career development in pharmacy, healthcare operations, enterprise implementation, or strategic leadership.
- Previous early-stage growth company, network-based organization, or complex multi-stakeholder healthcare environment experience preferred.
- MBA, MHA, PharmD, or other post-graduate business, healthcare, pharmacy, or leadership-related degree preferred.
- Division-level, executive-level, or Chief of Staff-style leadership experience preferred, including 5+ years supporting senior leadership teams, enterprise priorities, or cross-functional strategic initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Executive-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations, briefs, and decision materials.
- Strong strategic judgment, discretion, and ability to operate with confidentiality on sensitive organizational matters.
- Ability to assume delegated leadership responsibilities, maintain business continuity, and represent executive direction with clarity and sound judgment.
- Possess a collaborative leadership style and the ability to influence across teams without relying solely on direct authority.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, community pharmacy workflows, clinical integration, and industry best practices.
- Superior attention to detail, with the ability to maintain enterprise-level visibility into commitments, timelines, risks, and dependencies.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex policies, regulatory documents, payer requirements, partner expectations, and operational data.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing executive priorities and meet deadlines.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of health system, pharmacy network, or provider-based operations.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to anticipate barriers and propose practical solutions.
- Ability to be flexible, highly responsive to company needs, and effective in a fast-paced, evolving, and matrixed organizational environment.
