Job Title:                      Assessment Design Specialist, Assessment Services

Reports to:                  Manager, Assessment Design

Department:                Assessment Services

Location:                     Remote with some travel

 

Summary

The Assessment Design Specialist is a key member of the Assessment Design team within Assessment Services. This position is responsible for working with a portfolio of clients that have retained Prometric’s services in assessment design and development. The Assessment Design Specialist ensures that all assessment development activities are implemented in a manner that adheres to industry standards.

To be successful, the Assessment Design Specialist must:

  • Work collaboratively with clients to determine their goals for the testing program and advise them on the best course of action;
  • Understand the various products available from Prometric’s Assessment Services Department to be able to make appropriate suggestions to meet a client’s needs;
  • Apply knowledge of measurement theory to develop effective solutions that address the examination program needs while anticipating potential implementation challenges; and
  • Conduct job analyses and standard settings according to industry best practices.

To effectively fulfill essential job tasks, the Assessment Design Specialist is expected to collaborate, whether virtually or in person, with other staff members within Assessment Services, Client Advocacy, and Business Development and Sales teams in scheduling work and gathering requirements. The Assessment Design Specialist will conduct job analyses and standard settings, write multi-year project plans and technical reports, and oversee schedules for assigned programs. The Assessment Design Specialist will frequently facilitate virtual and/or in-person meetings with client representatives and subject matter experts (SMEs).

Responsibilities                                 

  • Work collaboratively with clients to establish short- and long-term goals and to develop in-year test development activity schedules.
  • Conduct job analyses and standard settings according to industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Sales, and Client Advocacy teams in proposal development and participate in sales meetings.
  • Represent Assessment Services in client meetings and in internal departmental and cross-functional meetings.
  • Ensure that the quality of work products is in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed according to established schedules, adhering to competing absolute deadlines in a cost-effective manner.
  • Develop planning documents and technical reports for clients.
  • Coordinate, prioritize, and complete project activities within contractual timelines.
  • Become proficient in Prometric’s internal, proprietary technology platforms.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines, and comply with item security practices.
  • Facilitate in-person and web-based meetings for various client stakeholders.
  • Support accreditation, compliance, and audit activities related to assessment programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in education, measurement, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of previous experience in the test development industry in education or professional certification/licensure. Five to eight years of experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of validity theory and measurement concepts.
  • Previous experience facilitating job analysis and standard setting workshops, both in-person meetings and remotely.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to write detailed technical reports documenting test development processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven dependability and high regard for security.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to meet quality, service, and productivity metrics.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Travel may be required (up to 20%).
