About this Position

The Application Architect is responsible for translating business requirements into technical design specifications for applications. They work directly with development teams to implement those designs and deliver the solutions into production. They are responsible for communicating department standards and best-practices and ensuring they are reflected in the applications.

This role is 100% remote and requires working Eastern Time hours.
The salary range for this role is $160k - $170k.
This role is not eligible for sponsorship.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

About this Position

The Application Architect is an experienced IBM Mainframe developer that designs, documents, programs and supports Agency Compensation applications that process commission calculations and payments for financial product sales. The Agency Compensation applications interface with Web Applications.  

The Application Architect designs, modifies and develops systems using advanced techniques. These techniques include the ability to analyze current systems to resolve new and/or existing problems. This position evaluates technical feasibility of proposed system solution, prepares project proposals and develops/modifies systems to meet the business need. They will also act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead or direct the work of other developers/projects. 


Responsibilities & Qualifications
 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years programming and analysis or IT experience
  • Participation in major system projects with proficiency in at least one development discipline/platform
  • Experience in project life cycle phases including analysis, design, programming and implementation
     

Essential Skills:

  • Highly competent in processes involved in systems analysis and use of appropriate tools for resolution. Including understanding design factors, system capacities, hardware and software requirements, coding, testing, and debugging programs. 
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Excels in ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with subordinates, peers and management. 
     

    Required Skills:

    • Highly proficient in COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL in a z/OS environment 
    • Proficient in establishing CICS table entries for new programs, transactions and files
    • Experience in Assembler Language is preferred
    • Experience in project life cycle phases including analysis, design, programming and implementation
    • Excellent organization, verbal and written communications skills
    • Advanced interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
