They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining efficient payment processing.

Ambition has no passport. That belief is why LemFi exists. We're the financial engine for people the world wasn't built to serve, the millions who move countries to build something better and find the financial system hasn't caught up with them yet. We started with remittances: the money people send home to the people they love. Now we run multi-currency accounts, Savings, eSIMs and Credit. Because staying connected to home and building somewhere new are not two separate things. They never were.

About the role

LemFi is the financial engine for people the world wasn't built to serve, processing remittances, multi-currency accounts, credit, savings and eSIMs across more than 21 countries. Our Compliance Operations team is the reason our customers can trust every transaction they send.

As an AML Operations Analyst (Transaction Monitoring & Sanctions) in the Compliance Operations team, you will review transaction screening (sanctions) alerts and transaction monitoring alerts, deciding which payments can safely go through and which need to be stopped or escalated. You will report to the FinCrime Operations Manager and work at the heart of day to day financial crime decisions in a 24/7 operation, balancing regulatory obligations with customer experience.

You will handle both real-time alerts on held payments and post-transaction alerts, covering sanctions, money laundering and fraud risk across LemFi's corridors.

Our Compliance Operations team works collaboratively across Transaction Monitoring & Sanctions, Customer Due Diligence, Fraud, and Investigations. We match candidates to the area that best aligns with their skills and strengths, so you may be placed in a different area from the one you applied for. As you develop your skills and grow within the team, there may also be opportunities to move across these areas.

What you'll build and own:

• Sanctions Screening: Review transaction screening alerts against sanctions lists (OFAC, UN, UK, EU), decide true match or false positive, and release or stop held payments within SLA.

• Transaction Monitoring: Review held and post-transaction monitoring alerts for money laundering and fraud risk, and decide whether activity makes sense for the customer.

• Escalate Appropriately: Escalate suspicious activity and possible sanctions matches for further investigation or reporting.

• Request Information: Contact customers for information when it is needed to decide a case, keeping requests short and clear.

• Improve Controls: Share what you see in alerts to help reduce false positives and improve screening and monitoring rules.

• Collaborate & Learn: Work across teams and keep up with sanctions changes, money laundering typologies and fraud trends.

Nice to have

• Risk Minded: You apply sound judgement when assessing customer and transaction risk, balancing control with customer impact.

• Detail Oriented: You spot inconsistencies and red flags that others may miss, ensuring high quality case outcomes and notes.

• Ownership Driven: You take responsibility for your decisions and follow cases through to completion without constant oversight.

• Adaptable: You are comfortable working in a fast changing environment with evolving regulations and priorities and You stay calm under time pressure, especially when payments are on hold.

• Use Data to Support Decisions: Review alert and case information to support accurate decision making under guidance from senior team members.

• Collaborative: You work well with global teams and support shared outcomes over individual wins.

Your experience:

• 1-3 years years of AML, sanctions or transaction monitoring experience in a fintech, payments company or financial institution.

• Hands-on experience reviewing sanctions screening alerts and transaction monitoring alerts.

• Knowledge of the main sanctions regimes (OFAC, UN, UK, EU) and how name matching works.

• Good skills in Google Sheets or Excel. SQL, Metabase or Snowflake is a plus.

• CAMS, ICA or CFE certification is a plus.
