Job Specifications
Compensation Range: $150,000 - $200,000 + Bonus
Current Vacancy: Yes
Location: Remote, US or Canada Applicants Welcome
Key Responsibilities
1. AI Strategy & Opportunity Development
Develop and maintain an AI transformation roadmap for the group, mapping each BU's current maturity, near-term priorities, and 12–18 month opportunity pipeline aligned to the Group Leader/BU strategy.
Identify and prioritise AI use cases across the group's BUs, using a structured framework (impact × feasibility × strategic fit) to focus effort where it will deliver the most value.
Translate market intelligence and CoE updates on emerging AI capabilities into specific commercial opportunities for BUs in the group.
Lead regular AI opportunity reviews with Group Leader, BU leaders, and the COE — challenging ambition levels and connecting BU-level ideas to enterprise-wide patterns.
Feed group-level insights and use case results back to the CoE to inform the Modaxo AI roadmap.
2. AI Adoption & Implementation Acceleration
Act as the primary implementation partner for BUs deploying AI tools and workflows — working directly with BU leaders, functional heads and AI Champions to move from decision to live deployment faster.
Diagnose and actively remove adoption barriers such as capability gaps, process friction, data readiness, change resistance, or resource constraints.
Lead the scoping, design, and monitoring of AI pilots within the group, ensuring they are set up to generate transferable learning and scale-ready outcomes.
Identify and replicate success where applicable. When a use case works in one BU, the AI Transformation Manager actively leads its adaptation and rollout across other BUs in the group.
Hold BU leaders accountable for agreed AI adoption milestones with support and challenge.
3. AI Champions Partnership & Capability Building
Serve as the day-to-day operational partner to AI Champions across the group — providing guidance, escalation support, a direct link to CoE resources, and share learnings from BUs across the Group.
Support AI Champions in running BU-level awareness, education, and engagement activities, co-designing sessions where needed, not doing it for them.
Help AI Champions develop their BU AI readiness assessments and activation plans; review and challenge these constructively.
Identify capability gaps across the group's workforce and commission or coordinate learning interventions through the CoE.
Track and report on AI literacy levels and adoption readiness across the group, using CoE maturity framework.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership
Build trusted relationships with BU leaders across the group: acting as a credible, commercially-aware advisor who understands their market and customers, not just their technology.
Manage the human side of AI change within the group: surface and address concerns proactively, communicate progress visibly, and ensure no BU feels left behind.
Represent the group's needs and voice in CoE working groups and enterprise AI governance forums.
Active participants in their AI Transformation Management Peer Group
Brief Group Leader regularly on adoption progress, emerging risks, and priority decisions that require their intervention.
Work with HR and the CoE to connect AI adoption to the AI Impact Personas framework, helping BU leaders understand the people implications of the AI they are deploying.
5. Performance, Measurement & Reporting
Own the group's AI adoption scorecard: tracking key metrics including adoption rates, use cases live, value delivered, capability development, and maturity.
Provide regular reporting to the Group Leader and CoE on progress against the group's AI transformation roadmap.
Identify patterns, blockers, and best practices across the group and contribute these to the wider network of AI Transformation Managers across other groups.
Person Specification
This role requires commercial instinct, change management skill, and enough AI understanding to be credible without being a technologist. The combination is going to be fairly scarce; the best candidates will likely come from experience in consulting, transformation, or senior business partnering backgrounds and be people who have made complex change happen in real businesses. Similar to our leaders who can manage our transformation acquisitions.
Essential Experience
Demonstrable track record of leading or driving adoption of significant change programmes in complex, multi-business or multi-site organisations — ideally including technology-related change.
Experience working across multiple business units or functions simultaneously — comfortable holding several stakeholder relationships and competing priorities at once.
Background in at least one of the following: management consulting, business transformation, change management, digital programme leadership, or senior commercial/operational roles with significant change exposure.
Evidence of translating strategy into practical action — not just designing plans but implementing them through people who don't report to them.
Experience of coaching, influencing, and enabling others, rarely doing the work themselves but understanding when to dive deeper.
Exposure to AI tools, workflows, or adoption in a professional context — does not need to be technical, but must be a genuine, informed user of AI (aligned to requirements of the Group).
Desirable Experience
Experience in a multi-business group or divisional structure (understanding the dynamics of group vs. BU tension).
Modaxo/CSI background or in a sector relevant to the company's BUs.
Experience building or participating in centres of excellence, networks of practice, or similar cross-functional capability initiatives.
Familiarity with AI adoption maturity models or change frameworks (ADKAR, Kotter, etc.).
Essential Skills & Capabilities
Commercial Acumen: Understands how BUs make money and where AI creates genuine value. Can frame AI in terms of revenue, margin, customer experience, and competitive advantage not just efficiency. Challenges BU leaders on ambition, not just compliance.
Influence Without Authority: Will never have direct line management over the people they need to move. Must be able to build enough trust, credibility, and energy that BU leaders, Champions, and functional heads choose to engage and follow through.
Translation Ability: Can move fluently between the language of the CoE (technical, systematic, enterprise-level) and the language of the BU (commercial, operational, human). Neither audience should feel the other's concerns are being ignored.
Structured Problem-Solving: Able to assess why adoption is stalling in a BU and diagnose the right intervention and whether that's a capability issue, a leadership issue, a process issue, or a data issue. Uses frameworks and processes appropriately/lightly vs rigidly.
Resilience & Pace: Covering 4–7+ businesses must be able to prioritize well, maintain energy across a wide span, and recover quickly from setbacks in individual BUs without losing momentum across the group.
Storytelling & Communication: Can tell the AI story compellingly to a skeptical Ops Director, an anxious finance team, an enthusiastic but over-technical Champion. i.e. adapts the message without losing the substance.
