AI Summary

Identify business processes for AI optimization and build reusable assets like agents, skills, and connectors to reduce manual effort. Drive adoption through onboarding, training, and maintaining documentation while ensuring compliance with data policies.

Role Description

Harmonic is expanding the use of AI assistants and agentic tooling across the business. The AI Enablement Specialist is responsible for turning that capability into measurable operational improvement by identifying business processes where AI can reduce cycle time or manual effort, building and maintaining the reusable assets that make those improvements (agents, skills, connectors, prompt libraries), and driving adoption among the teams who use them.

This is a hands-on role that sits between the business and the platform. The successful candidate in this role does not write production software, but will configure, test, document, and maintain AI workflow assets, and works directly with process owners to put them into use.

Location

Remote anywhere in the United States. Candidates based in the San Jose area are expected to work onsite in the office.

What you will be doing:

Build and maintain AI workflow assets

  • Design, configure, test, and maintain reusable agents and skills that support both service delivery functions and routine internal tasks.
  • Configure and validate connectors between AI platforms and business systems, working within approved access scopes.
  • Maintain a version-controlled library of workflow assets with documentation covering purpose, inputs, expected outputs, data handled, and known limitations.
  • Test assets for accuracy and consistency before release, and re-test after platform or model changes.
  • Retire or rebuild assets that no longer perform reliably.

Process discovery and opportunity assessment

  • Interview process owners and document current-state workflows, including handoffs, systems touched, volume, and cycle time.
  • Assess where AI would meaningfully improve a process versus where it would add cost, risk, or fragility — and say so plainly in either direction.
  • Produce written assessments with an estimated effort, expected benefit, and the data the workflow would touch.
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog of AI enablement opportunities and report on it to IT leadership.

Adoption and enablement

  • Onboard teams onto released workflow assets, including walkthroughs, office hours, and written guidance.
  • Build and maintain internal documentation and training material for AI tooling in use at Harmonic.
  • Track usage and adoption of released assets; follow up where adoption is low to determine whether the issue is training, fit, or asset quality.
  • Serve as first-line support for questions about approved AI tooling and escalate platform issues appropriately.

Responsible and efficient use

  • Build workflows that comply with Harmonic's AI use, data handling, and data classification policies by default.
  • Escalate proposed use cases involving sensitive data, customer data, or external-facing output to Cybersecurity Governance for review before implementation.
  • Review existing AI implementations for efficiency, including unnecessary use of premium models, redundant or duplicated assets, and workflows that consume disproportionate resources relative to the value delivered.
  • Report policy gaps, misuse patterns, and shadow AI tooling observed in the course of the work.

What you should have:

  • 3+ years in a business analyst, process improvement, IT enablement, solutions consultant, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring AI assistants or agentic tooling — prompt design, custom instructions, skills, or connector configuration. Personal or side-project experience counts if it can be shown.
  • Ability to read and modify existing Python or shell scripts and understand API documentation. Application development is not required.
  • Proven ability to document a business process and identify where it breaks down.
  • Strong written communication. This role produces assessments, documentation, and training material that non-technical staff must be able to follow.
  • Comfort working with stakeholders who are skeptical of AI tooling, and willingness to recommend against AI where it isn't the right fit.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms (Anthropic Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable) in an administrative or enablement capacity.
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar tool-integration patterns.
  • Working knowledge of data classification and handling requirements in a regulated or enterprise environment.
  • Exposure to AI governance frameworks (NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001) sufficient to recognize when to escalate.
  • Experience in a technology or media technology company.

Success Profile

  • Skeptical by default about tooling claims, including their own.
  • Finishes and documents work rather than accumulating prototypes.
  • Comfortable being told a workflow isn't a priority and moving on.
  • Escalates rather than works around a control.

Pay & Benefits

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $ 80,000 - $ 100,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market, location, and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. This position may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions are generally offered a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure.
