Adjunct Faculty – Online Master of Marriage and Family Therapy Program

Position Summary

Campbellsville University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions in its online Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program. Adjunct faculty provide academically rigorous, clinically relevant instruction grounded in systemic and relational practice.

Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in marriage and family therapy, effectiveness in online graduate education, and a commitment to developing competent, ethical, reflective, and culturally responsive clinicians.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach assigned MMFT courses in asynchronous, synchronous, or combined online formats.
• Deliver course content in accordance with approved syllabi, program outcomes, university policies, and applicable COAMFTE standards.
• Integrate systemic and relational theory, clinical practice, ethics, research, and cultural responsiveness into instruction.
• Facilitate student learning through discussions, case analyses, experiential activities, video conferencing, and other online methods.
• Maintain an active and consistent presence in the online classroom.
• Provide clear expectations and timely, substantive, and developmentally appropriate feedback.
• Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently using established course and program criteria.
• Respond to student communications within established university and program timeframes.
• Identify academic, professional, ethical, or clinical concerns and promptly communicate them to program leadership.
• Maintain accurate course, attendance, assessment, and grade records.
• Protect student and client confidentiality and comply with FERPA, HIPAA when applicable, professional ethics, and university policies.
• Participate as requested in orientation, faculty development, program assessment, meetings, and accreditation activities.
• Collaborate with the Program Director, clinical leadership, core faculty, adjunct faculty, and university staff.
• Demonstrate professional conduct consistent with the mission and values of Campbellsville University.

Additional Responsibilities for Practicum Faculty

Adjunct faculty assigned to practicum or clinical training courses may also:

• Facilitate scheduled live group-supervision or clinical consultation meetings.
• Assist students in integrating systemic theory, case conceptualization, ethics, research, and cultural responsiveness into clinical practice.
• Review clinical presentations, recordings, documentation, and other observable clinical data as permitted by law and university policy.
• Evaluate students’ clinical competencies, ethical conduct, professional behavior, and readiness for continued clinical training.
• Monitor progress toward program clinical requirements in coordination with designated clinical personnel.
• Promptly report concerns involving student performance, client welfare, supervision, site compliance, or professional conduct.
• Maintain appropriate distinctions between university-based educational oversight and the legal and administrative supervision provided by each student’s approved clinical site and local supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• An earned doctorate in marriage and family therapy from a COAMFTE-accredited program, or an earned doctorate in a closely related behavioral-health discipline from an appropriately accredited institution.
• Current licensure as a marriage and family therapist.
• Current designation as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate.
• Graduate-level preparation and professional expertise appropriate to the assigned course.
• Knowledge of systemic and relational theories, MFT practice, professional ethics, and culturally responsive care.
• Relevant clinical, teaching, research, or professional experience.
• Previous graduate-level teaching experience, preferably in an online or hybrid environment.
• Experience teaching or supervising from a systemic and relational perspective.
• Familiarity with COAMFTE standards and MFT program assessment.
• Experience working with diverse individuals, couples, families, and communities.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and technology skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and meet instructional and administrative deadlines.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development, scholarship, clinical practice, or service to the profession.

Appointment Expectations

Adjunct appointments are made on a course-by-course and term-by-term basis according to program needs, enrollment, faculty expertise, and satisfactory performance. Appointment does not guarantee future course assignments.

Adjunct faculty must complete required onboarding and training, prepare course materials before the term begins, maintain regular engagement throughout the course, meet all grading and reporting deadlines, and remain available to students and program leadership during the appointment period.
