Description

Greenville University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach online courses in programming, electrical circuits, and circuits laboratory. Adjunct faculty at GU serve as educators, mentors, and guides who invest in students’ academic growth and personal development within a Christ-centered learning community. This position supports Greenville’s mission by delivering high-quality online instruction that equips students for lives of character, service, and calling.

Courses may include Introduction to Programming and Electrical Circuits depending on qualifications and departmental needs.


Courses Included


Introduction to Programming (Online)

Students learn algorithms, data types, control structures, functions, arrays, file handling, debugging, and problem-solving using Python or C++. Instruction is delivered through GU’s online learning platform with structured modules, guided practice, and virtual support.


Electrical Circuits (Online Lecture)

Covers DC and AC circuit analysis, Kirchhoff’s Laws, network theorems, transient and steady-state responses, phasors, AC power, polyphase circuits, frequency response, and introductory simulation. Delivered through online lectures, digital resources, and simulation-based activities.


Primary Responsibilities


Online Teaching & Instruction

  • Deliver engaging, well-structured online instruction aligned with course outcomes and GU’s mission.
  • Build weekly modules, video lectures, demonstrations, and digital learning materials.
  • Use GU’s LMS (Brightspace) to organize content, assessments, and communication.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback through online channels.
  • Integrate faith and learning where appropriate, modeling Christian character and professional integrity.
  • Design and facilitate virtual learning experiences using simulation tools (e.g., Multisim, MATLAB).
  • Ensure students understand safety principles even in virtual environments.

Student Mentorship & Support

  • Maintain active online presence through announcements, discussion boards, and virtual office hours.
  • Encourage students in their academic, professional, and personal growth.
  • Foster an inclusive online learning environment that reflects GU’s commitment to holistic student development.

Collaboration & Professionalism

  • Communicate regularly with the department chair and course coordinators.
  • Participate in required online training, orientation, or assessment activities.
  • Uphold institutional policies, academic integrity, and online learning standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming (Python or C++) and/or electrical circuit theory.
  • Experience teaching or training in online or hybrid environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly in digital formats.
  • Commitment to Greenville University’s mission, Christian values, and student mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a related discipline.
  • College-level online teaching experience.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools and virtual lab platforms.
  • Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and online teaching best practices.
  • Industry experience in electrical engineering, embedded systems, or software development.
  • Demonstrated ability to support diverse learners in online settings.

Regular Undergraduate Adjunct rate with class enrollment of 10 or more per credit hour is $1000. This rate is subject to change based on enrollment numbers for the course.
