As an Accounting Technician, you'll perform non-repetitive, clerical accounting duties involving reconciliation, calculations, verifications, auditing and postings. We'll count on you for day-to-day maintenance of a portion of the general ledger. In addition, you'll process and compile financial data, financial plans, prepares reports, statements and/or posts to general or subsidiary ledgers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Balances, reconciles and analyzes financial data. Under close supervision, assists with the coordination, preparation and analysis of financial reports and statements as assigned.

  • Checks accuracy and completeness of financial information. May select appropriate adjustment, as required, based upon standardized procedures.

  • Processes and posts financial information to ledgers. Maintains general ledger or a portion of the general ledger, as required.

  • Prepares reports of financial data, including expense budgets, utilizing judgment and initiative in developing the format.

  • Responsible for data storage and retrieval. Assists in making recommendations on related technology.

  • Assists, as requested, in training, allocating assignments to and checking work of support staff.

  • Acts as liaison with other areas, as required.

  • Functions as the group leader and/or technical resource to other accounting clerical associates.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Supervisor/Manager.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in accounting and finance.

Experience: Three years of related experience in clerical capacity. No experience necessary with accounting college degree.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Accounting practices and procedures. Office practices and procedures. Accounting processing systems. Basic knowledge of GAAP required. Ability to operate a personal computer and related business software, calculator and other office equipment. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic math. Ability to analyze and verify data, applying some independent judgment in selecting alternatives. Ability to set work priorities.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

The expected starting salary range for Accounting Technician : $46,345.00 - $60,800.00
