The Opportunity:

The Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and sound financial practices. This role supports leadership by maintaining financial records, preparing reports, monitoring budgets, and ensuring compliance with healthcare accounting standards and reimbursement requirements.

This position is remote and offers you the flexibility of working from home.

You will be responsible for:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close activities.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and variance analyses for management.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Monitor payroll-related accounting entries and reconcile payroll expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement guidelines, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Assist with cost reporting and financial data required for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership and department managers on financial matters.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • 5+ years of experience as an Accountant
  • BSc in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience in US Healthcare industry is essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is non-negotiable
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software / Sage Intacct would be ideal, but training will be provided
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPS and PivotTables
  • Exceptional eye for detail and great analytical skills
