I spent over 11 years at Amazon in HR, and much of that work is what cybersecurity teams do every day: running confidential investigations, protecting sensitive data, staying compliant with the law, and spotting risk early. Now I'm building the technical skills to match. I'm currently in the Cybersecurity with AI program at Per Scholas in Dallas, getting hands-on practice with Splunk and SIEM tools, log analysis, incident response, threat detection, vulnerability management, digital forensics, and network security. Some of what I did at Amazon: - As seasonal HR Business Partner for a 1,500-employee site, I led confidential investigations into discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. - I interviewed people neutrally, gathered evidence, and wrote findings that held up legally. - I handled escalations involving personal, medical, and financial data for a workforce of over 1 million employees. - I led off-boarding for a site closure of several hundred people. 90% transferred to other sites, with zero lawsuits. - I verified the identity of 300+ new hires a day through I-9 and E-Verify, with zero failures at peak. - I was one of four people chosen for a project that cut invalid case transfers by 20% and raised frustration-free resolution by 30%, taking over third vendor to in-house benefit administration. - Investigating, gathering evidence, assessing risk, staying compliant, and protecting data are security skills. - - I've done them for over a decade with real legal stakes.
