I'm a senior backend engineer who builds and runs production systems end to end: APIs, payment and identity services, data pipelines and integrations, mostly in Go, Ruby and Python on AWS. I like owning a problem from the start, researching it, writing the spec, building the solution and running it in production. Today I use AI agents for much of the implementation, while staying hands-on with the design, the hard problems and code review. I've been a software engineer for 20+ years, and fully remote for over 15 of them, working with teams in the UK, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands and the US. I was one of the first engineers at three startups and later led an engineering team at Leadfeeder. Since 2021, I’ve worked as a contractor through my own company for clients including Digital Science, Deliveroo and Babbel. Two achievements I'm proud of: - At Deliveroo, I designed and built a GitOps-based configuration platform that replaced an incident-prone feature-flag tool and became the company-wide standard. Its Go sidecar evaluated flags locally on up to 15K nodes within strict latency and memory limits. - At Leadfeeder, I led the team that replaced the product's dependency on Google Analytics with our own AWS tracking pipeline, handling tens of millions of page views a day from around 50,000 customer websites. Next, I'm looking for a long-term remote role as a senior or staff backend engineer, ideally at a product company where I can own problems end to end and work closely with product and stakeholders. I'm most interested in platform, payments, data or AI-related work. I’m based in Zagreb (CET) and work comfortably with UK, EU and US East Coast teams.
