Nelson Ukaegbu

I design and build data infrastructure — lakehouse architectures, distributed pipelines, streaming systems — that holds up when the business depends on it. Currently, I lead a team of five engineers at Microsoft within the IDEAS Data Team, where we build the data foundation that powers product decisions and customer-facing initiatives across the organization. My work tends to involve one of three things: standing up a modern data platform from scratch, rescuing one that's scaled past what it was originally designed for, or helping a team ship data products faster by fixing the infrastructure underneath them. On the technical side, I work primarily with Databricks, Delta Lake, and the Azure ecosystem — Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake — along with dbt, Kafka, Snowflake, PySpark, and Python. I've implemented Medallion Architecture on large-scale pipelines and built CI/CD workflows that make deployment reliable rather than nerve-racking.
