Frontend Engineer
Seeking: Frontend Developer · Full Stack Developer
I’m a frontend engineer, mostly React, TypeScript and Next.js. I like the hard parts of the browser: performance, rendering, weird bugs that only show up in production. I’ve been doing this for about 5 years. I joined Convai as an intern in 2021 and stayed until April 2026, ending up as the frontend lead. After that I did a short contract at Phybox, a CAD startup. Two things I’m proud of: At Phybox I was the only frontend engineer, and I built their browser CAD app from an empty repo to a working parametric modeler in under a month. That meant wiring real geometry kernel ops like extrude, sweep, loft and booleans into the UI, adding an AI chat that could drive the model, and fixing STEP imports that were freezing the viewport (BVH plus cutting draw calls fixed most of it). At Convai I owned the Playground for five years, from the first version through to production. One change I still like: I moved the frontend to App Router in a monorepo, and builds went from 15-20 minutes down to 4-5. I also built the shared component library other teams ended up using. Next, I’m looking for a senior frontend role on a remote, async team that’s building something technically hard, like dev tools, AI products or open source. I do my best work when I own a problem fully instead of picking up tickets. I also maintain a small open-source CLI on the side (quietcommit), so a team that cares about open source would be a big plus.
