Journalist and Photographer specializing in Human Rights
My name is Moema Novais; I am a journalist, photographer, and project coordinator with over ten years of experience. My career began during college, where I worked as a reporter covering politics, international affairs, and local news for a community newspaper. In that last role, I rose to the position of editor-in-chief; beyond reporting, I helped develop story ideas and conduct investigations, coordinated reporters, managed social media, assisted in organizing neighborhood events, and produced academic articles. That experience taught me a great deal about project coordination — skills that proved valuable when I developed the communications strategy for a political campaign. After graduating in Journalism, most of the opportunities that came my way involved freelance writing and photography. As a photographer, I focus heavily on photojournalism, but I also cover concerts, performances, lectures, and other events. I enjoy working in the field. I have also worked as a photo editor, processing images in Lightroom and helping to coordinate other photographers. My undergraduate capstone project was a photo-reportage book on Candomblé, Spiritism, and Umbanda. In 2025, I completed a postgraduate program in Human Rights, Social Responsibility, and Global Citizenship; my final project focused on the impact of misinformation on the Maria da Penha Law. I am an organized, creative, and proactive professional. I am adept at following instructions and working within a team, while also being capable of working autonomously.
