Matteo Betti

With over 23 years of experience in process research and development of small molecule APIs, I am currently a CMC Drug Substance Project Leader at Chiesi Group, an international company with a strong focus on respiratory, neonatology, rare disease and special care therapeutic areas. I provide technical leadership for the development of drug substances, from early to late stages of clinical trials, ensuring manufacturing excellence and compliance, monitoring product health, and assessing risks and opportunities. Prior to this role, I worked as a CMC Technical Leader and I was accountable for the CMC PhI/PhII development plans of various projects in the R&D respiratory pipeline. As a chemist with a Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry, I have a solid background in complex organic and inorganic synthesis, technology transfer, and thermal risk assessment. I lead cross-functional and international drug substance technical teams, and coordinate drug substance launches and site transfers. I also collaborate with CROs, CMOs, academic and industrial partners, and conduct due diligence investigations. I am passionate about developing innovative drug development approaches, and contributing to the advancement of respiratory therapies.
