RN with 10 years experience/ bilingual spanish seeking opportunities in San Diego Area
I'm a BSN-prepared RN with 10 years across telemetry, cardiac step-down, critical care, med-surg, correctional health, home health, and post-transplant coordination and it was transplant coordination that showed me the work I actually want to do full time: getting patients through the insurance maze to therapy that's already been prescribed. In that role I ran benefit investigations across both major medical and pharmacy plans, submitted and tracked prior authorizations against payer-specific criteria, coordinated with specialty pharmacies on fills and shipments, and assembled the clinical documentation behind appeals when a determination came back unfavorable. With immunosuppressants a ten-day coverage gap isn't a delay, it's a rejection risk so I learned to read a formulary and a plan's medical policy before the problem arrives rather than after. I document in Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, and Meditech, and I move between systems quickly. I'm fully bilingual in English and Spanish and have run both clinical and benefits conversations in both. Spanish-speaking patients hit access barriers harder and drop off sooner, and I'd like to be the reason some of them don't. I'm also completing an MSN in education, which means I read a chart and a medication regimen with clinical depth that most non-clinical access staff don't bring. Looking for: fully remote patient access, benefits verification, prior authorization, case management, or care coordination roles. I work well asynchronously, document so the next person doesn't need a follow-up call, and don't need supervision to stay on top of a queue.
