Software Engineer
Full-stack developer specializing in fintech, currently balancing software work with a parallel path in medicine, a combination that has shaped how I build systems meant to hold up under real-world constraints. What I build My core stack is Android development with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, paired with Django on the backend. My key differentiator is hands-on experience with Kenya's M-Pesa ecosystem, specifically the Daraja API, which lets me build fintech products that work with how people actually move money. Two projects anchor this: Pesalyzer — an Android app that parses M-Pesa SMS transactions in real time, syncs them to a local database, and turns them into dashboards, budget alerts, and recurring-payment detection, with biometric lock and CSV export. A 100+ screen multi-role e-library platform, built to handle multiple user types and permissions at scale. I also work with Firebase, REST APIs, SQL/MySQL, and Git/GitHub — the connective tissue behind the specialized work. How I work I do not treat my current skills as a ceiling. I picked up Compose, Room, and the Daraja API by building with them under real project pressure. If a project needs something outside my stack, my default is to learn it. Studying medicine in parallel reinforces this it has taught me rigor about data integrity, edge cases over happy paths, and staying calm when something breaks and needs real diagnosis. What I am looking for Remote roles or contracts where fintech/payment integration is real work (not a side note), mobile development is core, there's a backend component I can own, and the team values growth over a fixed job-spec checklist. I work independently, communicate async well, and pick up context fast across unfamiliar codebases sharpened by moving between mobile apps, large multi-role platforms, and clinical training.
