Kurt Herbst

Full-stack software developer with a strong backend focus and a builder’s mindset. I work primarily with Java, Spring Boot, and SQL to design and optimise scalable, data-driven systems, with additional experience in React and .NET from an internship in Berlin. I enjoy digging into system performance and architecture just as much as shipping features - from reducing database query times to designing clean, maintainable APIs and modular backend services. I like solving complex backend problems, but I also care about building software that actually feels solid and usable end-to-end. Beyond the technical side, I work well in collaborative environments and like bringing structure to teams when needed. I’ve led groups in both professional and non-technical settings, and I naturally take ownership of coordination, clarity, and keeping momentum going without overcomplicating things. I value open communication, shared responsibility, and building systems together rather than in isolation. Currently looking for a remote backend or full-stack role where I can contribute to serious engineering work, learn from strong teams, and keep pushing my skills in scalable system design, APIs, and backend architecture.
