Kristen Jones

More than 15 years of progressive accounting experience, I have developed a broad background that includes financial reporting, month-end close, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, commissions, reconciliations, cash flow management, accrual accounting, audit support, and process improvement. In my most recent position, I was responsible for the accounting and financial operations of five operating entities and their holding company. I prepared and reviewed financial reporting on both a cash and accrual basis, managed cash flow, reviewed journal entries and reconciliations, and worked closely with ownership to provide accurate information regarding profitability and overall financial performance. I also supervised an accounting team member and was responsible for reviewing her work and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions. One of the areas I am particularly proud of is my ability to build and improve accounting processes. When I joined my most recent company, there were very few established accounting procedures and the business primarily relied on cash-basis reporting. I developed and standardized many of the department's processes and began tracking and compiling accrual data alongside the existing cash reporting. This allowed us to analyze results from both perspectives and provided leadership with a more complete and accurate picture of profitability and financial performance. Throughout my career, I have worked in several industries and have learned to adapt quickly to different businesses, systems, and accounting needs. I am comfortable being hands-on with the day-to-day details while also looking at the bigger financial picture and working with leadership and other departments. I enjoy identifying problems, finding practical solutions, and creating processes that make the accounting function more accurate and efficient.
