I'm a writer, communications strategist, and independent consultant with more than 30 years of experience helping organizations figure out what they need to say, who needs to hear it, and how to make it matter. My background spans political communications, public relations, speechwriting, editorial development, digital content, and brand strategy. I've worked with businesses, professional practices, political organizations, and individual clients, often taking complicated subjects and turning them into clear, compelling language for the people who need to understand them. Two accomplishments stand out. First, I've built and sustained an independent writing platform, Vagabond Pen, reaching an audience of approximately 90,000 readers. It draws on my background in history, public affairs, and communications to make complex political and social issues accessible without talking down to readers. Second, I've helped organizations develop their public identities from the ground up, including messaging, editorial strategy, website development, and digital communications. My recent work includes rebuilding the online presence of a multi-location medical practice, bringing its brand, services, and patient communications together into a cohesive digital experience. At this stage of my career, I'm looking for a fully remote position in content writing, editorial development, marketing communications, or content strategy. I'm particularly interested in organizations that value strong writing, independent judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to manage projects without constant supervision. I've spent much of my career working independently, meeting deadlines, managing competing priorities, and delivering finished work. Remote work is a natural extension of how I've operated professionally for years. I bring experience, perspective, and the ability to get things done without making a production out of it.
