I'm a full-stack and React Native engineer based in Nairobi with 5+ years of experience shipping production web and mobile products, mostly on contract, across payments, ride-hailing, sports betting, point of sale and media. Right now I build the rider and driver apps for Grabride, a Kenyan ride-hailing platform, in React Native, TypeScript and Expo: driver KYC onboarding with document uploads and a liveness check, live trip tracking on Google Maps Platform, Firebase and push notifications, released on the App Store and Google Play. Before that I was Tech Lead (contract) at Cheddaz Bet, leading 2-3 engineers and owning architecture and code review; we delivered near real-time bet updates for 10,000+ concurrent users and cut update latency by 90%. Two results I'm proud of: at BeatBnk I integrated M-Pesa and Paystack with idempotent payment processing, handling 1,000+ transactions in the first month at a 99.9% success rate with no double charges. And on my own multi-tenant POS SaaS (React, React Native, Django, PostgreSQL) I run 200+ backend tests in CI and deploy with Docker. My stack: React, Next.js, React Native, TypeScript, Node.js, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, GitHub Actions and AWS (EC2, S3, RDS). Next, I'm looking for remote contract work (40 h/week) or a full-time full-stack role on React, React Native or Node.js products, ideally payments, mobility or real-time apps. I'm on EAT (UTC+3) with good overlap with Europe and can start within a week.
