My name is Chris Valelis, and I’m a Machine Learning Engineer who loves building smart systems that actually solve real-world problems. I’ve spent the last few years diving deep into the world of AI, moving from academic research at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where I focused on Data and Knowledge Management, to leading technical teams in the fast-paced startup world. Right now, I’m pouring my energy into Qubicmind as a Co-founder. We’re working on some pretty exciting stuff, like RAG-based knowledge systems, forecasting, and Computer Vision. Before this, I was over at Al2Cyber as a Lead Engineer. There, I spent a lot of time architecting a production-grade engine that helps autonomous cybersecurity agents navigate complex networks. To keep everything running smoothly in real-time, I used tools like Apache Kafka to handle the heavy lifting of data synchronization. I’ve also had the chance to work on some very diverse projects during my time at Msensis. I developed an NLP-based chatbot for the tourism industry using Rasa and BERT, and I even built a computer vision system that can identify faces and recognize official documents through OCR. One of the things I’m most proud of is my work on energy forecasting; we managed to improve the accuracy of solar energy production predictions, which was eventually published in scientific journals. Technically speaking, I’m more comfortable when I’m working with Python. I use frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow for building models, and I rely on Docker, FastAPI, and Redis to make sure those models are production-ready and scalable.
