I’ve spent 30 years inside operations across very different industries: automotive parts, consumer manufacturing, global distribution, and highly regulated cannabis. Different markets. Same failure pattern. Most companies don’t break because of effort or intent. They break because no one can clearly see how work, data, inventory, and decisions actually move through the business. What I repeatedly walk into: • SOPs that exist, but aren’t followed • Inventory and accounting systems that disagree with reality • Leads coming in, but no consistent follow-up or closing motion • Customer service treated as reactive instead of systemic • Automation applied too early, reinforcing broken workflows People stay busy “handling issues” while the system quietly fails underneath them. In recent years, I’ve seen the same visibility problem show up around AI and automation. Teams adopt tools quickly, but AI usage, data flow, and vendor exposure are often undocumented, creating compliance risk and operational fragility. My role has never been just to optimize tools. It’s to make the system visible enough that the right fixes become obvious. I’ve built and run end-to-end operations in lean environments, including launching and operating a regulated retail business generating $4.5M–$5M annually, supporting 200–400 daily transactions, managing 3,000–4,000 SKUs, and overseeing $80K–$100K in monthly purchasing. Today, through Digital Flow Systems, I help operators do the same thing: see the system first, then automate what actually matters.
