AUBREY MATHOPE

Aubrey Thabo Mathope is a seasoned legal and commercial executive with more than two decades of progressive leadership across the public and private sectors. An Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa, he holds a B.Proc degree from the University of Pretoria, complemented by PRINCE2 project management certification and a Certificate in Legislative Drafting. His expertise spans commercial and contract law, regulatory compliance, consumer protection, labour relations, and public sector governance. Since 2013, Mr Mathope has directed Mriski Consulting Services, providing executive-level legal advisory, business formation, and commercial compliance services to a diverse portfolio of corporate and individual clients. His recent accreditation as a SARS Licensed Customs Clearing Agent (CUS0191991) and Registered Exporter (CUS0196111) significantly broadens his capability across import/export trade, customs control, and supply-chain compliance frameworks. Prior to private practice, Mr Mathope held senior roles at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as Senior Legal Advisor and Deputy Director: Education and Compliance, where he provided legal counsel to the Director-General and Minister, drafted legislation, and led national compliance campaigns. His foundation in public-interest law was established at the Office of the Public Protector (North West) and the State Attorney's Office in Pretoria, equipping him with forensic investigative, mediation, and litigation skills that remain central to his executive practice.
