The expert will rebuild the website framework for a DND Intranet modernization project and migrate legacy content to a WIM-compliant environment. They will also establish long-term governance, permissions structures, and support plans for internal staff.

This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced Website Expert/Architect to support a Department of National Defence (DND) Intranet modernization project for a Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) Fleet Maintenance Facility (FMF). The facility is migrating its dated Common Look and Feel (CLF) 2.0 website to the current WIM (DND TeamSite-based Content Management System) standard.

You will work under the direction of the unit's Information Management Officer (IMO) to rebuild the public/internal-facing website framework, migrate legacy content (or redirect it to the new SharePoint Online environment built in a parallel stream), and help establish sustainable governance going forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct exploration and survey of the existing legacy website content and structure
  • Analyze data transformation needs for migrating content to the new platform
  • Design and stand up a new WIM-compliant website environment
  • Plan and execute destination mapping and content migration
  • Perform cleanup and validation of the new website environment
  • Participate in quality validation of the completed solution
  • Support discovery and training sessions with content owners
  • Help define the long-term operating model, governance, and permissions structure
  • Contribute to support and governance plans for internal staff to maintain the site going forward
  • Coordinate as needed with a parallel SharePoint Online migration stream

Work Arrangement

This role is performed remotely. A DND-issued, pre-configured computer will be provided for accessing the DND-controlled DWAN Intranet and Microsoft 365/D365 environment. The resource is responsible for safeguarding all information and assets while working from a private, non-corporate location. No travel is required.

Requirements

  • Training qualification in the Government of Canada Web Experience Toolkit (WET)
  • Minimum 24 months of experience planning or participating in the implementation of WCAG 2.0-compliant websites using a content management application (e.g., TeamSite)
  • At least one demonstrable project (minimum 6 months duration), completed within the last three years, for a large organization (1,000+ personnel) involving WCAG 2.0 implementation
  • Ability to obtain or hold a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with an internal IMO and a parallel SharePoint implementation team
