Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and reevaluations for students suspected of having a disability.
- Administer, score, and interpret appropriate cognitive, academic, behavioral, social-emotional, adaptive, and other psychological assessments.
- Coordinate with designated on-site staff when an assessment requires in-person administration, observation, or student support.
- Review educational records, academic performance, intervention data, behavioral information, medical documentation, and other relevant information.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and legally compliant psychological evaluation reports within established timelines.
- Present evaluation findings to parents, teachers, administrators, and members of the multidisciplinary evaluation team.
- Participate remotely in referral, evaluation, eligibility, manifestation determination, Section 504, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and IEP meetings as assigned.
- Assist multidisciplinary teams in determining whether students meet eligibility requirements for special education and related services.
- Provide recommendations for instructional strategies, behavioral supports, accommodations, interventions, and related services.
- Consult with special education teachers, general education teachers, administrators, counselors, service providers, and families regarding student needs.
- Support the development, implementation, and review of IEP goals, behavior intervention plans, and other student support plans.
- Assist with functional behavioral assessments and the development of behavior intervention plans when appropriate.
- Help monitor compliance with evaluation, reevaluation, eligibility, and IEP timelines.
- Maintain confidential student records and assessment materials in accordance with FERPA, IDEA, applicable state requirements, and school policies.
- Enter evaluation information, reports, eligibility documentation, and other required records into the school’s designated student-information or special education system.
- Participate in professional development, department meetings, and required school or district training.
- Remain knowledgeable regarding current special education requirements, ethical standards, assessment practices, and evidence-based interventions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or school administration.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s, specialist, or doctoral degree in school psychology from an accredited institution.
- Valid school psychologist certification, credential, or licensure recognized by the State of South Carolina.
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, special education eligibility requirements, and IEP procedures.
- Experience conducting psychoeducational assessments and preparing comprehensive evaluation reports.
- Ability to interpret assessment results and communicate findings clearly to educators and families.
- Proficiency with virtual meeting platforms, electronic record systems, and secure digital assessment tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and meet required compliance deadlines.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Successful completion of all required background checks and employment screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a public school, charter school, or virtual education setting.
- Experience supporting students in kindergarten through grade 12.
- Familiarity with South Carolina special education procedures and eligibility criteria.
- Experience participating in virtual evaluations, eligibility meetings, and IEP meetings.
- Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential.
- Experience with MTSS, behavioral consultation, crisis intervention, and progress monitoring.

- Ability to participate in virtual meetings using video and audio.
- Ability to use school-approved communication, assessment, documentation, and student-information systems.
- Availability during the school’s established operating hours and for scheduled student, parent, and team meetings.
Working Relationships
The Virtual School Psychologist works collaboratively with the Special Education Director, school administrators, special education teachers, general education teachers, school counselors, related-service providers, parents, students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Evaluation of Performance
Performance will be evaluated based on the quality and timeliness of evaluations and reports, compliance with applicable requirements, professional collaboration, responsiveness to student and departmental needs, confidentiality, and adherence to school policies and professional ethical standards.
