Are you a passionate and experienced Sports Medicine Physician eager to be part of an innovative and rapidly growning healthcare startup? Protera Health is seeking a dedicated Physician to join our core clinical team, delivering exceptional virtual orthopedic care to patients in Vermont and nationwide. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide direct patient care while also contributing to a startup and shaping the future of MSK healthcare.

We empower patients through education, personalized home exercise programs, and real-time communication with care teams. Our goal is to help individuals with back, neck, and joint pain regain function, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life while also decreasing excessive, unnecessary spend for orthopedic care.

Position Summary

As a core member of our clinical team, you will play an essential role in delivering patient-centered MSK care through telehealth visits, asynchronous communication, and collaborative clinical discussions while also contributing to projects and initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, compassionate, tech-savvy, and eager to work in a dynamic, fast-growing startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts targeted, high-complexity initial assessments, secondary or tertiary consultations, and manages treatment failure escalations.

  • Serves as the ultimate clinical authority on complex differential diagnoses, atypical MSK presentations, and surgical/non-surgical triage.

  • Provides advanced interpretation of complex imaging (MRI, CT, MSK Ultrasound) and guides treatment plans when finding.

  • Educate and empower patients to make informed decisions about their Healthcare

  • Serves as the Collaborating/Supervising Physician for APPs; conducts chart audits, provides clinical escalation pathways, and mentors the team.

  • Engage with the broader clinical team of physical therapists and health coaches to discuss complex cases and share best practices.

  • Establishes, reviews, and follows evidence-based MSK clinical protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Must Reside in Vermont

  • Minimum of 2 years of MSK/Orthopedic experience.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

  • Enthusiastic about healthcare innovation and digital health solutions.

  • Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, professional remote workspace.

  • Willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must Reside in Vermont

  • Experience in telemedicine.

  • Background in health-tech

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.

  • Flexibile availability to meet shifting patient demands. At times mornings are needed, other times more evenings are needed.

  • Additional licensure in any of the following states; MI, WI, MA, or NY
