Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in acute care, emergency nursing, or complex primary health care?
We're seeking skilled clinicians to join our Digital Health team and support Australians to access the right care, at the right time, through the Healthdirect Helpline.
These are dedicated night-shift opportunities, offering flexible working hours within our overnight service periods. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a telehealth environment while making a meaningful contribution to healthcare delivery across Australia.
As a Digital Health Clinician, you will provide telephone-based clinical assessment, triage, and health advice for a wide range of presentations, including:
Acute and sub-acute health concerns
Mental health presentations
Health information and advice enquiries
Adult and paediatric presentations
Using your clinical judgement and assessment skills, you will determine the most appropriate course of action for each caller, including self-care advice, escalation, or referral to suitable healthcare services.
Conduct comprehensive telephone triage and clinical assessments
Provide evidence-based health advice across diverse age groups and clinical presentations
Identify clinical risk and determine urgency of care requirements
Recommend and facilitate appropriate care pathways
Refer callers to healthcare services including General Practitioners, Urgent Care Clinics, Virtual Emergency Departments, and other relevant services
Support safe and effective healthcare decision-making through high-quality clinical assessments
This is a fully remote position, enabling you to work from home while contributing to a nationally significant health service.
Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Minimum commitment of 0.4 FTE (32 hours per fortnight)
Flexible shift lengths, minimum shift length 4 hours
Available contract hours :
2200hrs to 0800hrs AEST
2100hrs to 0700hrs AEST
Initial contract until 30 June 2027
Fully remote working arrangement
Comprehensive paid training provided
Availability to attend two weeks of full-time training (Monday to Friday) is mandatory
Training must be successfully completed prior to undertaking independent clinical shifts
You are a confident and experienced Registered Nurse with a strong foundation in acute, emergency, or complex primary care settings. You are comfortable making clinical decisions in situations where recognising deterioration, managing risk, and escalating care are routine aspects of practice.
Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Minimum four years, full-time equivalent post-graduate Registered Nurse experience in acute are, emergency, critical care or complex primary health care (within the last five years)
Demonstrated critical thinking and sound clinical judgement in fast-paced or unpredictable clinical environments
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong computer literacy and confidence using digital health platforms and clinical systems
Residence within Australia
Mental health assessment and support
Experience across both adult and paediatric patient populations
Telehealth or virtual care experience
