ACT INSTRUCTOR
EMPLOYMENT TYPE Part time - Non Exempt
LOCATION Remote: MUST RESIDE IN LOUISIANA
POSITION SUMMARY
Studyville is hiring Part-Time ACT Instructors to help students raise their ACT scores through targeted, high-impact test-prep instruction delivered live and virtually via Zoom. Instructors lead a full cohort of students using Studyville's provided ACT guides, curriculum, and sample/practice tests — no lesson planning required — to build content mastery and test-taking strategy across all ACT sections.
This role's core functions include:
- Deliver live, virtual ACT prep instruction via Zoom to a full cohort of students using Studyville's provided guides, materials, and practice tests
- Use Studyville's ACT curriculum with no independent lesson planning
- Review available pretest results before instruction begins to guide instructional emphasis
- Track student progress — including practice test scores — and daily attendance
- Be a reliable, positive, motivating presence for students preparing for the ACT
- Support students in building confidence, ownership, and academic leadership throughout the cohort
SCHEDULE & INSTRUCTIONAL HOURS
Each ACT cohort is delivered live via Zoom, with cameras on, over a two-week instructional window totaling 17.5 hours:

Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ACT Instruction
- Lead ACT prep instruction for a full cohort of students on ACT English, Math, Reading, and Science content and strategy
- Use Studyville's provided ACT guides, materials, and sample/practice tests as designed
- Adjust pacing and strategy to meet the cohort's target scores and areas of need
- Administer the post-test during the final session
Curriculum Delivery
- Follow the provided ACT scope and sequence
- Review available pretest results before the first session to guide instructional emphasis
Progress Tracking
- Record attendance and daily student progress, including practice test scores
- Document participation and engagement concerns and communicate them to the ACT Program Coordinator
Student & Family Partnership
- Be a reliable, positive, motivating presence for students working toward a target ACT score
- Foster student confidence, ownership, and academic leadership throughout the cohort
- Communicate student progress and score trends clearly to students, families, and/or school staff as needed
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Personal ACT composite score of 33 or higher, achieved within the past 12 months, with an official score report available for verification
- Comfortable and confident teaching ACT content and test-taking strategy in a live virtual setting
- Demonstrated ability to help students meaningfully raise their scores
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and fingerprinting as required by Louisiana state law
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Reliable access to a computer or device with a functioning camera and microphone, and a stable high-speed internet connection
Preferred
- Prior experience tutoring, teaching, or coaching students in ACT or other test prep
- Prior experience teaching in a live virtual/online setting
- Current teaching certification

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base Compensation Range: $25–$30 per tutoring hour, based on experience and qualifying ACT score
This part-time role also includes:

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
- Reliable computer or device with a functioning camera and microphone
- Stable, high-speed internet connection sufficient for uninterrupted live video instruction
- Quiet, distraction-free space for the full duration of each live session
- Comfort and proficiency using the Zoom platform
