Training and Development Specialist

Position Overview
The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing training programs across all levels of the organization—from onboarding new trainees to supporting ongoing staff development and delivering client-facing instruction. This role serves as the primary owner of our internal Confluence knowledge base and leads staff readiness for industry and technical certifications. The primary focus is building technical proficiency, particularly in software integration and healthcare data standards.
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
- Preferred Experience: Hands-on experience or familiarity with InterSystems technology (e.g., InterSystems IRIS, HealthConnect, or HealthShare).
- 3–5 years of experience in technical training, instructional design, or technical writing, preferably within healthcare IT, SaaS, or software integrations.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience structuring and administering Atlassian Confluence (or similar enterprise wikis/LMS platforms), including managing page hierarchies, templates, and permissions.
- Baseline understanding of software integration concepts and healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, HIPAA basics).
- Proven ability to design end-to-end training materials (SOPs, video tutorials, practice assessments) and manage structured study tracks for staff certifications.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to adapt technical content for diverse audiences ranging from new trainees and internal staff to external client stakeholders.
- Proficiency with virtual meeting and interactive training tools (e.g., Google Meet, MS Teams, digital whiteboards, polling, and quiz platforms).
Responsibilities
Internal Staff Training & Continuous Development
- Trainee Onboarding: Design and facilitate foundational training tracks to accelerate ramp-up time for newly hired staff and trainees.
- Ongoing Skills Development: Deliver continuous training for current staff to support career growth, cross-training, and adoption of new processes or tools.
- Certification Program Management: Develop prep courses, study guides, and track progress/completion for staff pursuing required or recommended technical and industry certifications.
Knowledge Base Management
- Platform Administration: Serve as the primary curator and administrator of the company's Confluence spaces, maintaining clear information architecture and access permissions.
- Single Source of Truth: Create, organize, and routinely audit SOPs, technical guides, and study materials to ensure all internal documentation is current, accurate, and easily searchable.
- SME Collaboration: Work closely with technical leads and subject matter experts to translate complex integration practices and healthcare data standards into clear reference guides.
Client-Facing Training & Support
- Client Education: Deliver high-touch, customized training sessions for clients to ensure smooth software integration and product adoption.
- Needs Assessment: Evaluate client-specific technical requirements and tailor training agendas and supporting collateral accordingly.
- Post-Training Enablement: Provide ongoing resources, Q&A sessions, and documentation to reinforce learning and ensure long-term client success.

Location
LEAD North is a 100% remote company. Therefore, candidates must have the ability to work independently, efficiently, and from a distraction-free home office environment. We do not adhere to a “work from anywhere” model; employee is expected to work from the residence (city, state) noted in their employment documents.
Schedule
Commits to 40 hours of work per week, Monday through Friday unless on PTO or leave. Aligns hours with client business hours, current project assignments, and those of team members. Adapts schedule as necessary for clients in different time zones.
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable with prolonged use of a computer, including viewing a monitor and typing for most of the workday.
- Comfortable participating in virtual meetings via video or audio, as required.
Travel Requirements
Occasional Travel. Travel opportunities could arise including invitations to Conferences, Company retreats, and meetings/work on-site with our clients. Most travel is optional.
