AI Summary

The TMS Specialist supports and improves transportation management, manifesting, and carrier rating solutions across warehouse operations. This role acts as a technical resource for shipping, IT, and operations to ensure accurate order processing and system data flow.

BASIC SCOPE/PURPOSE

SUMMARY:

The TMS Specialist supports, administers, and continuously improves transportation management, manifesting, carrier rating, and label-printing solutions across Staci Americas warehouse and fulfillment operations. This role serves as a hands-on technical resource for Shipping, Operations, IT, Client Services, and carrier partners, helping ensure orders ship accurately, labels print correctly, carrier services rate properly, and transportation data flows reliably between WMS, TMS, carrier, and billing systems.

The ideal candidate is technically curious, a fast learner, comfortable troubleshooting in high-volume shipping environments, and experienced working with small parcel, LTL, and carrier technology platforms. Experience with ProShip TMS, rate shopping, carrier setup, shipping rules, service mapping, and manifesting workflows is strongly preferred.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for TMS, manifesting, carrier configuration, rate shopping, and technical shipping inquiries from Operations, Client Services, IT, customers, and carrier partners.
  • Support day-to-day administration of TMS and shipping platforms, including ProShip or similar systems, carrier services, shipper records, account setups, shipping rules, rate logic, and label output configurations.
  • Troubleshoot shipping errors involving order data, carrier responses, rating failures, label generation, printer output, service eligibility, address data, carton details, and manifest closeout processes.
  • Partner with software providers, carriers, internal IT teams, and warehouse leadership to configure new carrier accounts, onboard new clients, validate shipping methods, and resolve defects or system gaps.
  • Research operational and system issues using available tools, including WMS data, TMS shipment history, carrier logs, simple SQL queries, configuration tables, and audit records.
  • Support rate shopping environments by validating carrier/service availability, cost and transit-time logic, client shipping rules, account usage, surcharge handling, and fallback processes.
  • Maintain and improve label-printing workflows, including Zebra printers, ZPL, Loftware, Label Matrix, printer queues, workstation configuration, and scanner or automation dependencies.
  • Assist with warehouse automation initiatives tied to shipping accuracy, scanning, labeling, packing, cartonization, carrier compliance, and exception reduction.
  • Ensure shipping systems capture required data for billing, reporting, audit, customer visibility, carrier invoicing, and operational performance tracking.
  • Document configuration standards, troubleshooting steps, recurring issues, carrier setup requirements, and operational procedures to improve support consistency across facilities.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating system issues into business impact, options, and recommending next steps.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

SKILLED IN:

  • Transportation management, manifesting, rate shopping, and carrier integration concepts within warehouse or fulfillment operations.
  • Small parcel carrier environments, including UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, regional carriers, and service-level mapping across ship methods.
  • ProShip TMS or comparable multi-carrier shipping platforms, including shipper setup, carrier account configuration, user/admin support, and shipping-error resolution.
  • Rate shopping concepts such as carrier/service rules, account selection, transit-time logic, client-specific constraints, fallback services, and exception management.
  • Warehouse operating processes, including order picking, packing, shipping, receiving, returns, replenishment, wave/order flow, and shipping cutoff requirements.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues using structured problem solving, log review, data validation, replication steps, and root-cause analysis.
  • Basic SQL queries or data lookup methods used to research shipment, order, carrier, billing, and configuration issues.
  • Labeling and print technologies such as Zebra printers, ZPL, Loftware, Label Matrix, printer drivers, queues, and workstation-level troubleshooting.
  • WMS/TMS integration touchpoints, including order data, carton data, ship confirmations, tracking numbers, carrier responses, and manifest data.
  • Customer service, vendor coordination, documentation, and clear communication with operations and IT stakeholders.

ABILITY TO:

  • Learn new systems quickly and become a reliable subject-matter resource in a fast-paced, high-volume shipping environment.
  • Prioritize competing incidents, configuration work, carrier requests, and operational deadlines without losing attention to detail.
  • Translate technical findings into clear business language for warehouse leaders, clients, carrier contacts, and internal teams.
  • Work independently, follow through on open items, and escalate risks early when shipping performance, client experience, or billing accuracy may be impacted.
  • Think on your feet, remain calm during operational disruptions, and guide teams toward accurate system-driven solutions.
  • Build strong working relationships across IT, Operations, Client Services, carriers, vendors, and customers.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience supporting shipping, fulfillment, logistics, warehouse operations, transportation systems, or carrier technology is required.
  • Hands-on experience with ProShip TMS is strongly preferred, especially administrative experience configuring shipper records, carrier accounts, service rules, label formats, and troubleshooting shipment errors.
  • Experience in rate shopping, carrier/service optimization, multi-carrier shipping, manifesting, or transportation execution environments is a strong plus.
  • Experience working with UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, regional parcel carriers, and related tools such as WorldShip, FedEx Server, ConnectShip, or carrier portals is preferred.
  • Experience with Zebra printers, ZPL, print queues, label templates, Label Matrix, or similar label-management tools is preferred.
  • Exposure to WMS platforms, EDI/API-based order or shipment data exchange, shipping confirmations, tracking feeds, and billing data capture is preferred.
  • Basic SQL or database research experience is preferred; ability to learn data structures and investigate order/shipment records is important.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Systems, or related field is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
